Effective leadership begins with understanding ourselves.
Leadership brings responsibility, complex decisions and constant demands. But how often do leaders have the opportunity to examine how stress, pressure and personal experiences influence the way they lead?
On Tuesday, 22 September 2026, ALI SA Fellows gathered at Spier Hotel in Stellenbosch for the Mental Health for Leaders Workshop, facilitated by ALI SA Fellow, Nomfundo Mogapi and Mohamed Ali Diini.
Held as a Fellowship Circle, the workshop provided a supportive setting for Fellows to openly share the challenges they face as leaders, learn from one anotherโs experiences and explore practical approaches to managing their mental wellbeing.
Through exercises, discussions and real leadership scenarios, Fellows explored how to recognise their responses to pressure, manage stress more effectively and better support the mental wellbeing of those they lead.
The workshop reinforced an important consideration: mental wellbeing is not separate from effective leadership. It influences decision-making, organisational culture and our ability to lead and support others.
Thank you to our facilitators and participating Fellows for contributing to a valuable day of learning and reflection.
