HONOURING THE LEGACY OF GENERAL GIZENGA MPANZA

On 04 September 2026, the ANC Women’s League General Gizenga Mpanza Region REC had the honour of visiting the General Gizenga Mpanza Family, accompanied by ANC NEC Cde Ronald Lamola and ANC KZN PTT Cde Dr Nomusa Dube-Ncube.

The visit was particularly meaningful as it coincided with the period of the late General Gizenga Mpanza’s birthday — a moment to remember not only the man, but the revolutionary spirit, values and enduring contribution he made to the liberation movement and the people of our region.

In the warmth of the Mpanza family, we were reminded that a name carried by an organisation is more than a name it is a responsibility to protect, preserve and advance a legacy.

As the ANCWL General Gizenga Mpanza Region, we remain committed to ensuring that the values of service, sacrifice, humility and unwavering commitment to the people associated with General Gizenga Mpanza continue to find expression in our work.

This was more than a courtesy visit. It was a reaffirmation of the bonds between the movement and the family, and a reminder that our history must live through our actions.

We honour the past, embrace the present and organise for the future, with love for the family, respect for our history and an unwavering commitment to the people.

Long live the legacy of General Gizenga Mpanza!

The ANCWL Israel Maseko Branch proudly commemorated Women’s Month in the Mandeni Sub-Region, honored by the presence of the ANCWL General Gizenga Mpanza Regional Secretary Cde Nomveliso Nomvete. Her leadership reminds us that women are not just participants in politics, we are architects of transformation, defenders of democracy, and champions of equality.

As we celebrate Women’s Month, we reaffirm that the struggle for freedom and justice is incomplete without women at the forefront of political leadership.

Women of Faith, Strength and Action 🖤💚💛

The ANC Women’s League Msizeni Maphumulo Branch in the Ndwedwe Sub-Region held a successful Women’s Month Prayer Session.

As women, we draw strength from our faith, our collective power and our responsibility to shape the society we want to see. At a time when South African women continue to confront inequality, GBV, poverty and economic exclusion. Prayer must be accompanied by action, solidarity and the courage to speak and organise for change.

Our prayer is not a retreat from the struggle but it is a source of strength for the struggle. Women must continue to lead, organise, emancipate and transform our communities and South Africa.

The ANC Women’s League Hlomendlini Branch proudly hosted a successful Women’s Day Celebration, honouring extraordinary women who continue to play different roles in shaping, nurturing and strengthening the moral fibre of our communities.

Today, we celebrate women who serve without expecting recognition, lead without seeking applause, nurture without conditions, and give without asking what they will receive in return. Their contribution may often go unnoticed, but their impact is deeply felt in the homes, families and communities they touch.

These women remind us that women’s liberation is not only about the positions we occupy, but also about the values we uphold, the communities we build and the legacy we leave behind. As women of the ANC Women’s League, we understand that our struggle must continue to be rooted in solidarity, service, dignity, equality and the empowerment of women.

🌹 To every woman who continues to stand in the gap, raise a child, support a neighbour, mentor the next generation, care for the vulnerable and fight for a better society, we see you, we honour you, and we celebrate you.

Let us continue to organise, empower and mobilise women to take their rightful place in society and in the transformation of our communities.

Amandla! 🖤💚💛

Today, the ANC Women's League stood united in solidarity with the family of Mam Zoleka as we picketed outside court during the bail hearing of the accused, who is alleged to have taken her life.

Gender-Based Violence and Femicide remains one of the greatest crises facing our society. No woman should ever lose her life at the hands of someone who claimed to love and protect her. We joined our voices with the community to send a clear message that violence against women and children has no place in our country.

While we respect the independence of the courts and the constitutional rights afforded to every accused person, we call for justice to take its full course without fear or favour. Perpetrators of gender-based violence must be held accountable, and survivors and victims' families deserve a justice system that responds with urgency and compassion.

The ANC Women's League remains committed to the fight against GBV, to supporting affected families, and to building communities where women and children can live free from violence, fear, and abuse.

Justice for Mam Zoleka. Justice for every victim of GBV.
