🚨 SERIOUS MULTI-VEHICLE ACCIDENT – MOKGOLOBOTHO, R36 🚨

📍 R36 – Mokgolobotho

At 23:30 on 29 May 2026, Asterix the Long Firefighting Dog NPC – Fire & Emergency Support Service received a call from a concerned member of the community requesting urgent assistance at a devastating motor vehicle accident at Mokgolobotho on the R36 involving multiple entrapments.

Our team had only just departed from a previous accident scene and was on its way back to base when the call came through. Additional emergency services were immediately activated, and all available resources responded.

Upon arrival, crews were met with a horrific scene involving two motor vehicles and a motorcycle, with multiple serious entrapments and several critically injured patients.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of all responding services, the collision resulted in several P4 fatalities.

Emergency personnel immediately went to work stabilising the scene, treating the injured, and conducting complex extrication operations to free trapped patients from the wreckage.

The incident developed into a lengthy operation, with crews only returning to base during the early hours of the following morning.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to all emergency services, SAPS members, medical personnel, fire and rescue crews, towing and recovery operators, traffic officials, and every other role player who responded and assisted throughout the night. Incidents of this nature require teamwork, dedication, and professionalism from everyone involved.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families, friends, and loved ones affected by this tragic incident.

This was the first time that Asterix responded to two major accidents back-to-back during a single operational period. While we never wish for incidents such as these to occur, it reflects the growing trust that the community places in our organisation and highlights the importance of maintaining a capable, well-equipped emergency response network within our region.

🚨 TRUCK ACCIDENT – GEORGES VALLEY 🚨

At 20:19, Asterix the Long Firefighting Dog NPC – Fire & Emergency Support Service received a call from a resident reporting a truck accident in the Georges Valley area.

Additional emergency services were activated immediately, and our team responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, our first observation of the severely damaged truck cab led us to believe that this was going to be a long and difficult night involving a complex rescue operation.

However, what happened next can only be described as a miracle.

Despite the extensive damage to the vehicle, both occupants were found walking around on scene and had escaped without serious injuries.

Incidents like these remind us just how precious life is and how quickly circumstances can change. Sometimes, amidst the chaos of an accident scene, we are fortunate enough to witness something truly remarkable.

We are grateful that this incident did not have a far more tragic outcome and wish both occupants well.
