โ€“ Meet the Team ๐Ÿ’™

This year marks a very ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ž๐œ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐ž for us our very first year at ๐๐‚๐€๐’๐€ ๐’๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ as a club, and what an unforgettable experience it was!

15 competitive swimmers entered, and each one of them showed up with ๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ž, ๐๐ž๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, and pure ๐‰๐Ž๐ˆ๐„. The energy on poolside was something truly special โ€” the ๐ก๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ, ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ, ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ž, and ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ between the swimmers reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

โœจ Every ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ž ๐ฌ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ achieved a ๐๐ (Personal Best) โœจ

We always believe that the biggest ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ž๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง is with ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ๐Ÿ. If you improve your ๐จ๐ฐ๐ง time, itโ€™s a ๐–๐ˆ๐ โ€” and our swimmers proved that beautifully.

To celebrate every PB, we introduced our little turtle stamps ๐Ÿข โ€” a reminder to:

Today we honour the ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก and ๐๐ž๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง of our JOIE swimmer, Kara Laubscher, and the incredible journey she walks every day living with diabetes.

Kara reminds us that diabetes does ๐ง๐จ๐ญ define you โ€” your ๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ž, ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐œ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ญ does. She shows up, works hard, and proves that with the right ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ž๐ญ, anything is ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐›๐ฅ๐ž. She truly goes the extra mile.

But behind every strong swimmer is a strong support system โ€” and we want to celebrate Karaโ€™s amazing mother. From day one, she has stood by Karaโ€™s side: educating, supporting, guiding and empowering her to live a healthy, active and confident life. Her dedication is a big part of Karaโ€™s success.

Together they even created ๐Š๐š๐ซ๐šโ€™๐ฌ ๐ƒ๐ข๐š๐›๐ž๐ญ๐ข๐œ ๐Š๐ข๐ญ๐œ๐ก๐ž๐ง, where Kara makes healthy, diabetic-friendly snacks to inspire others and show that living with diabetes can still be delicious, fun and creative. ๐ŸŒŸ

What a fantastic weekend for our JOIE Swimmers at the Upington Prestige Gala on 31 October & 1 November!

Our 16 swimmers gave it their all โ€” racing with heart, team spirit, and determination. Their results say it all:

We are especially proud of the 24 new PB's a true reflection of progress, consistency, and hard work in training. Every swim showed growth and dedication! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’™
