TOP HR MANAGER POACHED BY KZN MUNICIPALITY - THE PIXLEY GOLD RUSH CONTINUES

Writes Sibonelo Ndhlela

The proof that Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Local Municipality has become the new mining hub for talent in South Africa is no longer a rumour - it is a reality unfolding before our eyes.

In yet another proud, yet bittersweet moment for our institution, we announce that Mr Mandla Shabangu, Manager Human Resources has taken up a Senior Position to head Human Resources at a well-established, high performing Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal.

Mr Shabangu leaves Pixley not as an ordinary employee, but as a refined product of a system that breeds excellence. His professionalism, his ethical leadership, his mastery of human capital management and his unwavering commitment to clean governance made him a target for the best in the country.

And, this is precisely what we mean when we say Pixley has become the mining hub. Other municipalities no longer come here to benchmark only - they come here to recruit. They know that if a leader was moulded in Pixley, that leader comes tested, trusted and beyond reproach.

While we bid farewell to Mr Shabangu with mixed emotions, we do so with immense pride. His move is not a loss, it is a validation. It is a certificate of quality for our municipality. It says to the country: If you want the best, go to Pixley Ka Isaka Seme.

We have no doubt that he will hoist the Pixley flag even higher in KZN. He carries with him the DNA of excellence that defines our institution - discipline, integrity, diligence and people - first service.

Mr Shabangu, thank you for your sterling service to Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme. You came, you served , you left a mark. KwaZulu-Natal is lucky to have you.

ACTING EXECUTIVE MAYOR TO CLASS OF 2026: YOUR DESTINY IS ON YOUR OWN HANDS - GO AND CONQUER!

‘From the Desk of the Acting Executive Mayor-Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Local Municipality’

TO THE BRAVE, BRILLIANT AND BOLD CLASS OF 2026.

The hour has come. After twelve long years if toil, tears, triumph and tenacity, you now stand at the golden gate of your future-your National Senior Certificate Examinations.

On behalf of Council and the people of Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme, we salute you. We see you. We believe you.

Your journey has not been easy. As William Shakespeare wisely penned in his famous novel: ‘KING LEAR’: “The weight of this sad time we must obey, speak what we feel, not what we ought to say”.

You have obeyed the weight of early mornings, difficult subjects, and sleepless nights. You have endured. And now endurance must turn into excellence.

This examination is not the end-it is the unveiling of what you may become. Doctors, Engineers, Teachers, Leaders, Entrepreneurs-all that you may be, lies just beyond this final paper.

And when fear creeps in, hold onto Shakespeare’s timeless charge in Julius Ceasar: “It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves”.

Your destiny is in your hands. In your pen. In your preparation. In your focus. No one can write it for you.

Therefore, we urge you:

Be calm. Be confident. Be disciplined.
Shun all distractions and negative peer pressure.
Trust your teachers, trust your notes, trust God, but above all-trust yourself.

We wish you good health, sound minds, and steady hands. May your results be a celebration for your families, your schools and our entire Municipality.

Go forth and conquer, CLASS OF 2026. The future is yours to claim.
