The market only takes place on the first Saturday of each month from 09:00 - 15:00 (except for January). The Pure Boland Market started in February 2009 when Tharina Marais saw an opening in the market for small businesses in the Breede River Valley area to sell their home grown and homemade products as well as handmade arts and crafts. The Pure Boland Market at the “Groenstoor” in picturesque Brandwacht just outside Worcester, became a monthly favourite among locals and since then people came from all parts of the Western Cape to enjoy the local produce and delicious homemade food at this monthly market. What we did during the Covid-19 Lockdown:

During the first few weeks of the Covid-19 pandemic / National lockdown level 5 in South Africa, Tharina and her husband Pieter realised that it might be ages before the market can be fully operational again, so they decided to take the market online. For almost two years the online market shop was the main platform for supporting these local small businesses and entrepreneurs. As businesses started to go back to normal and the monthly market could operate smoothly again, they decided to go back to the original concept of the monthly market ONLY. Both Tharina and Pieter run their own businesses (apart from the market), so time wise it just made sense. The online shop lie close to their hearts and the decision to end it was not taken lightly. With a toddler in the house, family time came first when the final decision had to be made. We will be back at our beloved Groenstoor after a 6-month break on Saturday, 6 June from 09:00 – 14:00! 🌿☀️

We absolutely cannot wait to welcome all the incredible local small businesses trading at our market, as well as our wonderful loyal customers who continue to support local.

Worcester’s famous local artist and kids’ entertainer, Hugolene, will be keeping the kiddies entertained free of charge while you enjoy a relaxing day out in beautiful Brandwacht — complete with spectacular views and the perfect country atmosphere. 🎨🚜

The much-loved mini tractor rides will also be available for the kids to enjoy free of charge, adding even more fun to the day!

We are excited to have Charl Bingle and Luc Scheepers entertaining visitors with their fun and lively style of music throughout the day. 🎶

We are hoping and praying for beautiful weather. While we always try our best to be a “come rain or shine” market, please keep an eye on our social media pages for updates regarding our latest weather policy, which we will share in our next post.

Please note that the electricity to Brandwacht has not yet been restored since the storm. If there is still no power at Groenstoor on Saturday, 6 June, we will unfortunately not be able to host the market. Keep an eye on our page for updates

Ons was werklik so geseënd! Ná die storm het die weer perfek saamgespeel, en ons het ongelooflike ondersteuning van die drawwers sowel as die plaaslike gemeenskap ontvang.

Baie dankie aan elkeen wat gister se markdag by De Wet Kelder saam met ons kom geniet het. Dit was regtig ’n besondere dag, en ons waardeer julle ondersteuning meer as wat woorde kan sê. 💛
