DAY ONE ASSESSMENT OF DISTRICT AND TOWNSHIPS ROADS IN CHAVUMA DISTRICT

Member of Parliament Hon. Victor Lumayi, Council Secretary Mr Isaac Kangombe, Acting Director of works Mr Kajila Likomeno, ZNS officers Led by Lt Col MC Nkole Commanding Officer LDB Solwezi and Councilor for Kalombo Kamisamba Mr Maurice Kayembe today went round parts of Chavuma East to assess the town ship roads in the district earmarked to be worked on starting Monthend of July.

The Member of parliament has announced that the source of funding of funding for this upgrade of roads in the district is the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and funds from the Central government. He has since added that it important that these roads are worked in for all citizens to access services like health and education.

The Council Secretary has advised the public to comply with the officers that will be on the ground to work on those roads as it is important for all sectors to work together to bring about development.

The assessment is being done in two phases; the first phase is starting on the East Bank and the Second on the West Bank.

Chavuma & Zambezi Districts have two sides of the river Zambezi.

We call them musali, mwishilya or the other side of the river depending which side of the river you are standing from.

The Districts uses the pontoon to cross and during rain season vehicle can't cross for months making basic needs and social amenities, trade and livelihood not accessible by all residents.

Chavuma Town Council today joined the rest of the world in commemorating World Water Day under the theme "Accelerating Change to Solve the Water and Sanitation Crisis” at Moses Luneta Grounds.

In attendence was the District Commissioner, Mr Geoffrey Kasonda, His Worship the Council Chairperson, Mr Rodrick Sandando, The Council Secretary, Mr Isaac Kangombe and various heads of government departments.

The Guest honor emphasized the need to protect and preserve water sources for the district.

The event ended with a soccer game between Chavuma madalas Vs Moses luneta Secondary School. The game ended 2-0 in favor of Chavuma Madalas.
