SIMUUWE ENGAGES MAKENI VILLA WARD STRUCTURES AHEAD OF CAMPAIGN LAUNCH
Lusaka, Zambia | 3 May 2026
By Wagon Media
UPND Makeni Constituency aspiring Member of Parliament Mark Simuuwe has held a meeting with party structures in Makeni Villa Ward as part of his ongoing campaign preparations.
Speaking during the engagement, Simuuwe emphasized that his campaign will be guided by consultations with grassroots structures, stating that they understand the geography of the area and the characteristics of the people in each locality.
He said the adoption process remains open, allowing members to freely interact with party structures, and described the party as organized with space for participation.
Simuuwe noted that the Makeni Villa Ward meeting was part of a series of engagements, adding that it was the second meeting held with structures as they work towards finalizing their approach before taking the campaign to the ground.
He indicated that a larger campaign launch is expected, where he anticipates being joined by other party officials, as preparations intensify ahead of the August 13, 2026 general elections.
Simuuwe said part of his campaign message will focus on mobilization and highlighting what has been achieved under President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership. He cited the introduction of free education as one of the key developments, stating that many pupils have benefited from the policy.
He also referenced social cash transfer programmes, noting that more beneficiaries have been added, as well as youth empowerment initiatives which he said have enabled many young people to access support and start businesses.
Simuuwe further mentioned developments in investment and energy, including efforts to increase power generation, saying such initiatives are important for economic growth and sustaining social programmes.
He concluded by calling for readiness and unity ahead of the 2026 general elections.

SUNDAY MESSAGE OF HOPE AND PURPOSE
March 22, 2026 – Lusaka, Zambia
Fellow residents of Matero, I greet you this blessed Sunday.
The Bible reminds us in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This powerful promise speaks to each one of us—that no matter the challenges we face, there is a greater plan ahead.
We are further encouraged in Isaiah 40:31: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…” A reminder that even in moments of weariness, God restores our strength and lifts us higher.
Today is not just a day of rest—it is an opportunity to rise again, to rebuild, and to refocus our lives and our community.
Matero is a community full of potential. Our strength lies not in individuals, but in our unity, our shared struggles, and our collective vision for a better future. Each one of us has a role to play in building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous constituency.
Let this Sunday be more than just a routine—let it be a turning point. A moment where we choose faith over fear, action over doubt, and unity over division.
Together, we can transform our community. Together, we can write a new story for Matero.
May God bless you all and guide our path forward.

Zambia’s Path to Real Development
Zambia has made great strides with programs like student allowances, feeding schemes for school children, and the increased Community Development Fund. These initiatives help families and communities in the short term, and that’s commendable.
At the same time, I believe we have a real opportunity to focus on long-term development. True growth is not just about spending money today—it’s about creating systems and industries that allow Zambia to thrive tomorrow.
Sectors like mining, agriculture, and education can do more than serve immediate needs—they can generate wealth, create jobs, and build skills. For example, Zambia could explore partnerships where we supply resources like copper or gold, and in return, companies help build factories and transfer technology locally. This would create jobs, boost skills, and keep more value within our country.
Welfare programs are important, but combining them with strategic investment, technology transfer, and local industry development is what truly moves a nation forward.
Zambia has the potential to grow not only for today but for generations to come. Let’s think about how we can feed the future, not just the present
Concerned youth.
