President Hakainde Hichilema has directed Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa to urgently look into the conditions of service for councillors across the country, following submissions made by civic leaders and the Minister of Local Government.

Speaking during a historic meeting with 1,832 councillors under the Local Government Association of Zambia at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, President Hichilema said he understood the concerns raised by councillors and was ready for dialogue.

He directed that every constituency should have a loans officer to assist citizens, especially those unfamiliar with application procedures, in accessing CDF loans and grants. Mr Kangwa chipped in while the president was the president was addressing and comfirmed that communication had already been issued to implement the directive.
