A STERN IS ACTION COMING - EASTERN PROVINCE PS THOLE WARNS CORRUPT COUNCIL OFFICERS

Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Mr. Paul Benjamin Thole, has issued a stern warning to corrupt council officers in Eastern Province, that they will soon face the wrath of the law.

Mr. Thole, who is the government controlling officer for the province, said his office is fully aware of how some council officials have been awarding themselves contracts and tenders dubiously through companies registered in other people's names.

He said the corrupt practice has disadvantaged genuine bidders and companies that would have delivered quality services and goods on time and with efficiency.

Mr. Thole said this on Thursday when he addressed selected council officials at Kasenengwa Town Council.

He warned that this time around the government will aggressively fight with vigour any form of corruption and abuse of office in local authorities across Eastern Province and that decisive action will be taken against all those found wanting.

"We know what is happening. We know how some of you are getting contracts using your own companies registered in someone else's name. This has to stop," Mr. Thole warned.

The Permanent Secretary has since called on all council officials to uphold integrity, transparency and accountability in the ex*****on of their duties.
