UPND Online Campaign writes REPORT TO THE PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA, HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.
COMPILED BY: UPND ONLINE CAMPAIGN.
As part of our online campaign, we have been monitoring the sentiments of Zambians regarding the performance of the Ministry of Home Affairs under the leadership of Hon. Minister Jack Mwiimbu. Unfortunately, the majority of the views expressed indicate a loss of hope and confidence in the Minister's ability to address the pressing issues affecting the nation. This report highlights the key concerns and issues raised by Zambians, which require immediate attention and action.
Key Concerns
1. Passport Office Reforms
-- The process of obtaining a passport remains cumbersome, corrupt, and inefficient, with cartels controlling the process and citizens being forced to pay extra fees not known by the government.
-- The lack of transparency and accountability in the passport application process has led to widespread frustration and disillusionment. Due to cartels controlling the process.
-- The current system has resulted in unnecessary delays, if you do not pass through these cartels. with some applicants waiting for over six months to receive their passports.
1. Police Reforms
-- Despite promises, there has been no significant improvement in the conditions of service for police officers, with many still working under harsh conditions and without standardized salaries and benefits.(promotions)
-- The lack of resources and equipment has hindered the ability of police officers to effectively perform their duties, leading to a decline in public trust and confidence.
-- The failure to address the welfare of police officers has resulted in low morale and high levels of corruption within the service. Experciary in the traffic department, and officers that are deployed on banks, there boss still demand a share of the missing lunch and night allowance from the police men, deployed at banks and other related deployment with daily allowance. Ndola Archbishop bans politicians from campaigning in church
THE newly appointed Ndola Archbishop Benjamin Phiri has forbidden politicians from attending mass for campaign purposes especially in his archdiocese.
Speaking during the thanksgiving mass for the establishment of Ndola as a diocese yesterday, Bishop Phiri stated that politicians should not be allowed to speak in church as it is not a political platform.
He said no politician whether from the ruling party or opposition will be allowed to speak anymore.
"If you get any request that this one wants to pray, does he have to announce that he wants to pray? Why can't he just come and sit in the crowd like everyone else?" questioned Bishop Phiri.
"You are bringing confusion in the house of God. Politicians who want to pray can come to pray but don't give them a platform to talk. I don't want to hear that any priest allowed a politician to speak in church."
The new Archbishop reiterated that no politician is special whether from the rulling party or not as they will no longer get the privilege of preaching hatred in church.
"Keep away from places of worship. I'm not going to tolerate that behaviour, no politician whether rulling party or opposition, we don't want you to come and disturb us," he advised.
He however said if politicians need help or guidance, the church will always be there to offer guidance.
