CHIPANGALI VOTER EDUCATION FACILITATORS URGED TO UPHOLD INTEGRITY AHEAD OF 2026 GENERAL ELECTIONS
Chipangali District Electoral Officer Ms. Faustina Manjombi has called on Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs) to uphold integrity, professionalism and impartiality as they prepare to conduct voter education activities ahead of the 13th August, 2026 General Elections.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the five-day Voter Education Facilitators training held from 25th to 29th May, 2026, Ms. Manjombi said the training had equipped facilitators with the necessary knowledge and skills required to effectively educate citizens on electoral processes and democratic participation.
She emphasized that VEFs are ambassadors of the Electoral Commission of Zambia and must provide accurate, factual and non-partisan information to all eligible citizens across Chipangali District.
“Free, fair and credible elections largely depend on an informed electorate,” Ms. Manjombi said.
She further urged facilitators to remain disciplined, committed and dedicated as they undertake voter education activities in various communities ahead of the general elections

TRAINING OF VOTER EDUCATION FACILITATORS COMMENCES IN CHIPANGALI DISTRICT AHEAD OF THE 2026 GENERAL ELECTIONS
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) in Chipangali District has today, 25th May, 2026, commenced a five-day training programme for Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs) in readiness for the Voter Education exercise ahead of the 13th August, 2026 General Elections. The training programme will run up to 29th May, 2026.
The training is aimed at equipping facilitators with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively educate members of the public on the electoral process, voting procedures, voter responsibilities, and the importance of participating in democratic elections peacefully and responsibly.
Voter Education Facilitators play a critical role in promoting informed participation, reducing misinformation, and enhancing transparency and credibility in the electoral process. Their work will help ensure that citizens are well informed and prepared to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
The trained facilitators are expected to roll out voter education activities in communities across the district as preparations for the 2026 General Elections continue.

Chipangali Town Council has secured yet another impressive victory following a friendly football match played against Kasenengwa Town Council earlier today. The exciting encounter saw Chipangali Town Council emerge victorious with 4 goals against Kasenengwa Town Council’s 2 goals.

NOMINATIONS SUCCESSFULLY CLOSE IN CHIPANGALI
Nominations for both National Assembly and Local Government elections in Chipangali Constituency have successfully come to an end today with several candidates successfully filing in their nominations.
For the National Assembly, Andrew Z. Lubusha successfully filed for the Chipangali East Parliamentary seat. Mr. Lubusha is the immediate former Member of Parliament for Chipangali Constituency.
At Local Government level, in Kasenga Ward, Kennedy Sakala successfully filed under the UPND, while Wallace Mwale filed under the NRPUP.
In Chipangali West’s Sisinje Ward, Masauso Sakala filed under the UPND, Mike Banda under the NRPUP, and Charity Milanzi filed as an Independent candidate.
Meanwhile, in Nthope Ward, Mary Phiri successfully filed under the UPND, while Stanford Mkhoma filed under the NRPUP. In Lunkhushwe Ward, Abinala Bobby Banda also successfully filed his nomination as an Independent candidate yesterday.

DVEC, ZANIS AND VESC PATRON/MATRON VOTER EDUCATION TRAINING
The District Voter Education Committee (DVEC), Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS), and Voter Education Centre Supervisor (VESC) Patrons and Matrons have commenced a three-day intensive training on Voter Education Facilitation. The training, which started today, 21st May, 2026, is aimed at equipping participants with the necessary knowledge, skills, and methodologies required to effectively prepare and deliver standardized Voter Education messages to communities.
The training focuses on strengthening understanding of electoral processes, civic responsibility, and the importance of credible voter participation.Participants are being prepared to ensure accurate, consistent, and non-partisan dissemination of information ahead of electoral activities. The training will run for three days and is expected to conclude on 23rd May, 2026.
Upon completion of the training, the team will conduct voter education training of the Voter Education Facilitators from 25th to 29th May, 2026 in Chipangali District. This rollout will enhance voter awareness and participation, ensuring that members of the public are well-informed on electoral procedures and the importance of peaceful and informed voting.

UPDATE ON SUCCESSFUL NOMINATIONS IN CHIPANGALI DISTRICT
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) in Chipangali District has recorded successful nominations for the positions of National Assembly, Council Chairperson, and Ward Councillors ahead of the 13th August, 2026 General Elections.
For the National Assembly seats, Mr. Mason Mkhoma successfully filed nominations for Chipangali West Constituency under the National Revolutionary Party United People (NRPUP), while Mr. Chibesa Phiri successfully filed for Chipangali East Constituency under the same party.
For the position of Council Chairperson, Ms. Grace Phiri successfully filed her nomination under the United Party for National Development (UPND).
Meanwhile, successful nominations for Ward Councillor positions were recorded in both Chipangali West and Chipangali East Constituencies.
In Chipangali West Constituency, Lunkhuswe Ward recorded successful nominations for Mr. Masauso Phiri as an Independent candidate, Mr. Chikubabe Ngoma under NRPUP, and Mr. Reuben Phiri under UPND. In Madzi-a-Tuwa Ward, Mr. Lucky Mwale and Mr. Phalone Mwanza successfully filed as Independent candidates, while Mr. Joseph Phiri filed under UPND.
In Chipangali East Constituency, Rukuzye Ward recorded successful nominations for Ms. Maliro Gondwe under UPND and Mr. Alex Mbewe under NRPUP. In Chipangali Ward, Mr. Kosamu Banda successfully filed under UPND, while Mr. Innocent Daka successfully filed as an Independent candidate.
The nomination process has continued peacefully, with electoral officials encouraging all stakeholders and members of the public to uphold peace, unity, and the Electoral Code of Conduct throughout the electoral period.
