DAY THREE (3) OF THE VOTER EDUCATION FACILITATORS TRAINING
The Training has reached an exciting and critical milestone as the Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs) transition from passive learning to active demonstration.
This hands on evaluation phase where the hard work of the past few days truly pays off, ensuring every facilitator is fully prepared to deliver clear, accurate, and impactful voter education to the public.
Highlights of Day 3
The whom to be voter education Facilitators were moving past lectures to actively practice their delivery skill once deployed.
The District Voter Education Trainers Mr. Lutangu Akakumbukwa and Mr. Liwena Antonio were providing targeted feedback.
On Quality Control, the trainers conducted their evaluation ensuring all messages meets the strict standards required for public outreach.
Building confidence was part of the exercise ensuring every VEF was given time to present in front of peers as one way to refine their tone, body language, and timing.
The DVETs deployed their skills in helping the would be voter education facilitators in the following ways:
Simulated Field Environments: Running realistic mock community meetings with peer roleplayers.
Positive Feedback Loops: Highlighting specific presentation strengths before correcting errors.
Micro-Teaching Sessions: Presenting short, 10 minute topics to lower initial public speaking anxiety.
Peer Mentoring Pairs: Pairing less experienced facilitators with seasoned communicators for mutual support.

ELECTORAL COMMISSION OF ZAMBIA LAUNCHES VOTER EDUCATION INITIATIVE IN MITETE DISTRICT
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has formally initiated a voter education training program in Mitete District, designed to equip facilitators with the necessary skills for community-led civic sensitization.

ECZ DEPLOYS ELECTORAL STAFF FOR NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT NOMINATIONS IN MITETE DISTRICT
The Electoral Commission of Zambia has deployed electoral staff to facilitate the nominations process for prospective candidates in the upcoming August 2026 General elections. Accompanied by District Electoral Officer Mr. Kennedy Kazanda and Returning Officer Mr. Kasweka Njamba, the electoral staff will oversee the nominations scheduled from 20th to 22nd May 2026, which are expected to attract numerous candidates from both opposition and ruling UPND party.

MITETE DISTRICT'S CDF IMPLEMENTATION EARNS PLGO'S APPROVAL IN WESTERN PROVINCE
The Provincial Local Government Office (PLGO) in Western Province, in conjunction with the Mitete District team, assessed the 2025 and 2026 CDF projects, loans and grants in Mitete. The findings indicated that the PLGO was pleased with the progress achieved in CDF implementation in Mitete District.
Senior Local Government Officer Pumulo Kalaluka, in an interview after the tour, commended Mitete Town Council for their exceptional performance in all areas of CDF implementation, including loans compliance, grants and Community Projects. Mr. Kalaluka advised other councils to emulate Mitete's example to foster development in the Province and the country. He also encouraged Mitete Town Council management to maintain their diligence.

ECZ IN MITETE DISTRICT ORIENT ELECTORAL STAKEHOLDERS AND ASPIRING CANDIDATES ON NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) in Mitete District on 14th May 2026 conducted an orientation session for electoral stakeholders and aspiring candidates, focusing on nomination requirements and candidate qualifications for the forthcoming elections. In his remarks, District Electoral Officer Mr. Kennedy Kazanda encouraged all stakeholders and aspiring candidates to ensure a successful electoral process by adhering to electoral guidelines. He emphasized that, as Zambians, the elections should be conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner.
The orientation session, which took place at Ngomangulu Primary School in Mumbumbu Ward drew over 87 participants from political parties, Non Governmental Organizations, Faith Based Organizations and independent candidates.
During the meeting, a nomination timetable was structured and agreed upon by all stakeholders. They further pledged to maintain peace before, during, and after the elections. The attending political parties included the Socialist Party, FDD, Resolute Party, NFF and UPND.

MITETE TOWN COUNCIL RECOGNISED AS ONE OF THE BEST CDF PERFORMERS AT THE RECENTLY CONCLUDED CAPAH EXPO...
Mitete Town Council was formally recognised and awarded as one of the top-performing CDF implementers at the 2026 CAPAH EXPO held in Kabompo. In his concluding remarks at the Expo in Watopa, Kabompo, themed "5 Years of Transformation: Parliamentarians leading change in Zambia under Good Leadership", Honourable Minister of Defence, Mr. Ambrose Lufuma, noted that Mitete District has undergone notable transformation owing to effective CDF utilisation in previous years. He congratulated the council and urged management to continue working diligently to transform Mitete.
