Lundazi District Electoral Officer, John A.K. Mwanza, has called on Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs) to remain committed and work hard in the ex*****on of their duties.

Speaking during the closing of the 5 days training, Mr. Mwanza emphasized that voter education remains at the core of every successful election, adding that effective voter sensitization efforts would contribute significantly to increased voter turnout in the district.

The DEO further urged the facilitators to uphold good conduct, proper dress code, and the principles and values of the Electoral Commission of Zambia at all times while carrying out their responsibilities.

Mr. Mwanza concluded by bidding farewell to the participants following his transfer from Lundazi Town Council to Kasama Municipal Council, where he has been appointed Town Clerk. He thanked the VEFs for their dedication and wished them success in their future endeavors.

The meeting aimed to promote information sharing, strengthen community engagement, and enhance stakeholders’ understanding of the programme and its implementation in the district.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia District Voter Education Committee (DVEC) in Lundazi District has called on Voter Education Facilitators to uphold the principles enshrined in the Electoral Code of Conduct as they prepare to undertake voter education activities ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

Speaking during a visit to facilitators currently undergoing a five-day training programme, DVEC Chairperson Rev. Sam K. Phiri stressed that the success of the electoral process largely depends on effective voter education. He urged facilitators to carry out their duties professionally, impartially and diligently in order to promote informed participation and help the district avoid voter apathy.

Rev. Phiri further emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure that eligible citizens are adequately sensitized on the importance of participating in the electoral process.

Following the training, the Voter Education Facilitators are expected to be deployed in the field from 30th to 31st May 2026 in preparation for the commencement of the voter education programme, which will run from 1st June to 31st July 2026.
