The Public Private Dialogue Forum (PPDF) has welcomed the launch of a three-year Connectivity and Digital Learning Programme.
Through a strategic collaboration involving the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), Ministry of Education, PPDF and MySol Zambia Ignite Energy Access Zambia, the programme will connect an initial 70 public schools to high-speed Starlink internet, while providing solar power solutions to off-grid schools.
From a PPDF perspective, the initiative demonstrates the value of public-private collaboration in addressing practical development challenges and expanding access to opportunities, particularly in education, digital skills and technology.
In his remarks, PDU Delivery Manager, Enhanced Value Chains, Mr. Jones Mulunga Shimbela said “The programme we are launching today is therefore not simply about connecting 70 schools to the internet. It is about creating opportunities that can contribute to Zambia’s future growth.”
Reliable connectivity will enable learners and teachers to access online educational resources, support teacher development and strengthen digital literacy, while creating opportunities for surrounding communities to connect to information, services and markets.
The initiative also supports the broader objectives of the Grow Zambia Agenda, particularly efforts to build a more productive, skilled and digitally connected population capable of participating in and contributing to Zambia’s economic growth.
This partnership demonstrates how Government and the private sector can work together to translate national development priorities into practical interventions that directly benefit citizens.
With Chainda Primary and Secondary School in Chogwe District now connected, the programme will extend connectivity to 69 additional public schools across the country, marking another step towards a more digitally inclusive Zambia.
