During this period, this is what they are missing. In case you are voting for the first time, 5 years ago it wasn't easy. And they want to come back and continue with thuggery behavior. Ikona, man Zambia is at peace.

SABAO LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN IN KANSENGO, CALLS FOR PEACEFUL POLITICS AND CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT IN CHIKANKATA
June 1, 2026
Kansengo, Chikankata
District – Jacqueline Sabao today officially launched her re-election campaign in Kansengo, calling on residents to embrace peaceful politics and remain focused on development rather than misinformation.
Addressing a large gathering of supporters, traditional leaders, and party officials, Ms. Sabao urged the people of Chikankata to conduct campaigns in a peaceful and respectful manner, emphasizing that elections should unite communities rather than divide them.
She challenged those spreading what she described as falsehoods and propaganda against her leadership to reflect on their intentions, stating that her objective remains to continue the development agenda she began when she was elected in 2021.
"My mission is simple: to continue and complete the projects we started together. The people of Chikankata can see the development that has been delivered, while other projects are still ongoing and require continuity for them to be completed successfully," she said.
Ms. Sabao noted that since assuming office, her leadership has brought visible improvements across the constituency, adding that residents should appreciate the progress made over the past five years.
Meanwhile, Chikankata District Chairperson David Katowa togather with his vice Mr. Ian Namakala praised the MP's leadership, saying the transformation witnessed in the constituency speaks for itself.
Mr. Katowa stated that many residents have benefited from development projects facilitated through government programs and represented by Ms. Sabao in Parliament.
"Chikankata was not like this before.
Development has become visible because we have a leader who has consistently spoken for the people and worked closely with the government to bring projects to the constituency," he said.
He further questioned the promises being made by political opponents, arguing that development is already underway and that residents should safeguard the progress achieved.
Mr. Katowa said it would be difficult for others to claim ownership of development initiatives already established, adding that voters should carefully evaluate competing promises.
The district chairperson also commended party members who were not adopted as candidates but chose to remain loyal to the UPND and support Ms. Sabao's campaign.
According to Mr. Katowa, such individuals have demonstrated commitment to party unity and the broader goal of ensuring continued development in Chikankata.
He cautioned residents against being misled by independent candidates and political opportunists, claiming that some individuals were being used for personal political interests rather than the welfare of the constituency.
Mr. Katowa warned that electing leaders without a clear development agenda could slow down progress and negatively affect ongoing projects.
Several headmen who attended the campaign launch also expressed support for Ms. Sabao, citing visible improvements in their communities.
The traditional leaders stated that they had witnessed significant development during her tenure and pledged to continue supporting her leadership.
Some headmen noted that many residents were seeing certain forms of development for the first time in years and praised Ms. Sabao's commitment to addressing community needs.
They further observed that women leaders often understand the challenges faced by families and children at community level, a factor they said has contributed to her strong connection with the people of Chikankata.
As the campaign season begins, Ms. Sabao's message centered on peace, unity, and continuity of development, themes that are expected to dominate political discussions across the constituency in the months ahead.

UPND PLANS TO RECRUIT OVER 40,000 HEALTH WORKERS IN SECOND TERM
June 1, 2026
The United Party for National Development (UPND) has announced plans to recruit more than 40,000 additional health workers during its second term in office, should it remain in power, building on what it describes as significant gains in Zambia’s healthcare sector during its first term.
According to a statement issued by Jerome Nkonjela, Public Relations Coordinator of the UPND Health Committee, the government has already recruited 23,560 health workers over the past five years.
The party said this achievement reflects President Hakainde Hichilema’s commitment to strengthening the country’s healthcare system and addressing chronic staffing shortages.
The recruitment drive, the statement noted, has boosted manpower in hospitals, clinics, and rural health facilities, easing pressure on existing staff and expanding access to quality care for Zambians.
Beyond hiring, the UPND Health Committee highlighted progress in infrastructure development, ambulance system upgrades, the procurement of modern medical equipment, and improvements to the medical supply chain. The party described these as “practical and measurable results” rather than mere promises.
Looking ahead, the UPND expressed strong optimism that more than 40,000 additional health workers would be recruited during a second term.
The party acknowledged that Zambia still faces a significant backlog of qualified professionals, including medical doctors, nurses, midwives, medical licentiates, clinical officers, and other essential health workers needed to meet growing demand.
The committee commended President Hichilema for prioritising citizen welfare through sustained health sector investments and expressed confidence that continued recruitment would accelerate progress toward Universal Health Coverage.

June 1, 2026
UPND aspiring Member of Parliament for Nangoma Constituency, Eng. Collins Nzovu, today joined traditional leaders, family members, and residents of Kezwa Ward in mourning the late Acting Headman Mukubu, Mr. Rodwell Shachipola, who passed away at the age of over 90 years.
Speaking during the funeral service held at Mukubu Village, Eng. Nzovu described the late Shachipola as a dedicated community leader whose life was marked by selfless service, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to development.
Eng. Nzovu conveyed condolences and greetings from President Hakainde Hichilema and First Lady Mutinta Hichilema, assuring the bereaved family that they remained in the thoughts and prayers of the First Family during this difficult period.
He paid tribute to the late acting headman for his role in promoting peace, unity, and cooperation among community members, noting that his leadership contributed significantly to the growth and development of Mukubu Village and surrounding areas.
“God is the giver of life, and He alone determines our time on earth. Our elder lived a long and meaningful life and leaves behind a legacy worth celebrating,” Eng. Nzovu said.
He urged residents to honour the late leader’s memory by continuing to support development initiatives and preserving the values of unity and service he championed throughout his lifetime.
