Thursday 28th May, 2026.
The Ministry of Technology and Science, in collaboration with the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), convened a Co-Creation Session under the Digital Economy Roundtable (DERT) framework to shape Zambia’s National Digital Activation Campaign. The session brought together Government institutions, regulators, financial institutions, telecommunications operators, media houses, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and develop strategies aimed at increasing digital inclusion, digital literacy, citizen trust, and uptake of digital services.
The meeting formed part of Government’s broader agenda to accelerate Zambia’s digital transformation and support President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision of building an inclusive, connected, and technology-driven economy. Stakeholders acknowledged progress made in expanding digital infrastructure and connectivity but noted persistent challenges related to public awareness, confidence, and participation in digital services.
Officiating at the session, Permanent Secretary Eng. Dr. Brilliant Habeenzu emphasized the importance of partnerships and coordinated action in advancing Zambia’s digital transformation agenda. He highlighted the need for practical implementation, improved communication on available e-services, stronger cybersecurity frameworks, and support for digital content creators and gamers as part of growing the digital economy.
Speaking on behalf of the Presidential Delivery Unit, Delivery Manager Mr. Mupota Muchelemba stressed the importance of building citizen trust in e-services and ensuring collaboration among stakeholders to promote digital inclusion, especially in underserved communities.
Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting a coordinated national campaign that promotes awareness, accessibility, and meaningful participation in Zambia’s digital economy, with the goal of improving service delivery, economic growth, and national development. The Ministry of Technology and Science, in collaboration with the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), convened a Co-Creation Session under the Digital Economy Roundtable (DERT) framework to shape Zambia’s National Digital Activation Campaign.
