โ€ŽZAMBIA RED CROSS SOCIETY HANDS OVER WASH INFRASTRUCTURE TO GOVERNMENT IN KABWE DISTRICT
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS), with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has handed over Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure to government at Jasmine Street Primary School in Kabwe district.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe Zambia Red Cross Society Board, and the Ministry of Health emphasized the significance of sustainable WASH infrastructure in improving public health outcomes and creating a conducive learning environment for children.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽA key highlight of the occasion was the commissioning of two newly constructed boreholes in Nakoli Wardโ€”one at Jersey Mine School and the other at Nakoli Health Centre.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThese facilities are expected to significantly improve access to safe and clean water for both learners and surrounding communities.
โ€Ž
โ€Ž Nakoli has been identified as one of the cholera hotspot areas in Kabwe District and has historically been vulnerable to cholera outbreaks.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe provision of reliable water sources is therefore a critical intervention in strengthening disease prevention and improving community health resilience.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe event also served as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration, marking an important exchange between two provinces.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe interaction also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to share experiences, lessons learned, and best practices in the implementation of WASH interventions and community-based health initiatives.
