HERIOT-WATT UNIVERSITY AWARDS HH AN HONORARY DOCTORATE DEGREE

Republican President Hakainde Hichilema has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Heriot-Watt University of Scotland in recognition for services to the economic advancement of Zambia and its citizens, enabling access to education and revitalisation of international trade.

The President hopes the honour can aspire millions of young people from humble backgrounds.

As he came from a humble rural village himself, President Hichilema hopes this will serve as an inspiration for millions of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who are currently, receiving free education, bursaries, and skills training.

Government will continue focusing on economic transformation for citizens through investments in developing the education sector because it is the greatest investment, equaliser and inheritance for people said President Hichilema in his acceptance speech of an Honorary Degree as Doctor of the University.

M'MEMBE HAS PETTY JEALOUS - MWALITETA

Lusaka Province United Party for National Development Chairman, Hon Obvious Summerton Mwaliteta has reminded Socialist Party leader Fred Namakando M'membe to acknowledge what the New Dawn Administration has done, though it is difficult for him to do so as he has petty jealous towards our party in government's achievements.

He said it is disheartening for Dr M'membe to wish Zambians more economic hardships, even when our able President Hakainde Hichilema and team have managed to restructure the debt as it is a source of relief on our economy, considering the maturity dates for repayments in 2032 and 2052 with full clarity that, the head of State is not avoiding honouring the Eurobond.

Does M'membe want Zambians to die of hunger because of inhuman conditions of external debt created by Edgar Lungu and his Patriotic Front?

M'membe like the majority Zambians, knows that by getting this relief, the country has resources for social expenditures such as in education, health, infrastructure development and other amenities added Hon Mwaliteta.

Further, the UPND political strategist implored Dr M'membe to engage in politics that will give hope to the citizens of this country instead of antagonistic, divisive and populist conversations that do not help to build the country.

IT IS NOT AN OPTION TO SECURE SOLUTIONS TO THE ENERGY CRISIS

Republican President Hakainde Hichilema has said it is not an option to secure solutions to the energy crisis, and the current immediate interventions to avail more power are deliberate to address the energy crisis.

And we have to work hard to do these things and i want to urge Zambians that hardwork, smart hardwork is the only way, there is no magic in these things said President Hichilema who arrived in London yesterday, where he is scheduled to engage with UK Government officials, investors and other stakeholders.

He also said if it was not for the drought which has affected 84 districts, the nation would have been on course for a record harvest of its staple crop; without any issues of food insecurity and energy crisis.

President Hichilema said this drought is a wake-up call for us to invest in the immediate solutions, medium term, long term solutions so that those coming after us do not have to face the same things we have to face.

MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING, SMART AND WELCOME MOVE

During the last sitting of the National Assembly, alot of unparliamentary conduct and behaviour falling short of the honourable house's decorum, was observed from most opposition members of parliament who deliberately and arrogantly disrespected the Speaker Madam Nellie Mutti and her two deputies every time they debated on the floor of the house.

The Everlight Wellness Solutions organised mental health training is a smart and welcome move as it will be of help to alot of opposition members of parliament who are repulsive in thought due to the shock they suffer from because of the increased CDF which is aimed at improving people's livelihoods across the 156 constituencies in the country.

Members of parliament who will participate in this training, shall be helped to manage stressful situations as they debate on pertinent national issues, which are noble and of great value to our country.

Even political hallucinations will be done away with, considering that opposition law makers are expected to take part in the training workshop which aims at promoting mental health.

YEHOVAH ANKALE NAMWE

..HH CONSOLES MALAWI...

President Hakainde Hichilema is an inspiration to Zambia and Africa as a whole in that, he continues showing fruits of the Spirit of truth both at home and abroad.

In his sent message of deepest condolences to President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera following the death of that country's Vice President Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima, President Hichilema prayed to God for strength, unity and love to our brothers and sisters in Malawi.

Yehovah ankale namwe, President Hichilema consoled Malawians on the bereavement of their Vice President, His Honour Dr Chilima and nine others who crashed on board a military plane.

Our Republican President Hichilema has exhibited a great sense of humour inclined on his belief of our Christian faith according to ROMANS 12:15 which reads: "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep".

President Hichilema added that, as a country, we have since dispatched some of our officers and air transport to help with the situation on the ground in Malawi. We are one people.

By press time, Zambia Airforce Officers carried the remains of His Honour Dr Chilima and nine others on our military air transport back to Lilongwe and President Dr Chakwera with other government officers were at hand to receive the departed ones.

OBSTRUCTIVE LEGISLATION REVIEW

President Hakainde Hichilema noted yesterday at State House during the swearing in of Princess Kasune that, no law should obstruct service delivery to citizens while legal processes are important.

When laws are left to stall the way of development, there will be zero delivery of service to the people.

The head of State emphasised the need to address bottlenecks that hinder optimum deliverables, as we can not continue operating the same way in the New Dawn Administration.

Speaking when he swore in Princess Kasune as the new Justice Minister, President Hichilema implored the two permanent secretaries at the ministry Isabelle Lemba and Mwenya Bwalya, in- charge of administration and legal drafting respectively, to support Princess Kasune especially that they are all female who are expected to excel as a team.

And Kasune shortly after being sworn in, told journalists that, she will galvanise the team in the ministry to deliver effective services to Zambia.

She becomes the first woman in that position.

PRESS STATEMENT

WE SUPPORT PRESIDENT HICHILEMA IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TRIBALISM

We are very much aware that, the opposition political parties are in a league to frustrate our country's rebuilding process in the economical, social and political sectors which the PF destroyed whilst in power.

These people understand that, introduction of free education, increasing of CDF, massive job creation for the youth and women and many more empowerments to improve people's livelihoods which has been attained by our party in government, nakes it difficult for the opposition to decampaign us and so they have resolved to create a deliberate tribal division in the country in order to cause regional war.

But as the party in Lusaka, we stand with His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema in the fight against tribalism which is being perpetrated by selfish individuals who are not remorseful even after stealing money from the people of Zambia whom they promised to rule based on the 10 commandments.

President Hichilema said, it is folly for opposition political party leaders to attempt to divide the people they want to rule.

With the stiffening of punishment on hate speech and tribalism which disturb social peace, we hope that sanity will prevail in the opposing camp for them to start offering credible checks and balances with solutions unlike the status quo.

MWALITETA STRONGLY CONDEMNS HOOLIGANISM

..And reaffirms Provincial support to the President...

United Party for National Development, Lusaka Province Chairman, Hon Obvious Summerton Mwaliteta has strongly condemned the hooliganism which took place on Leopards Hill Road on Tuesday.

In his reaffirmation he said, the UPND leadership in Lusaka shall not condone such uncouth behaviour that threatens peace and public order, as the party in the Province fully supports the position outlined by President Hakainde Hichilema during his State House press conference on Wednesday.

We support our President, ugly incidences of political hooliganism in Lusaka perpetrated by groups of individuals shall not go unpunished, as UPND is a peaceful political party in government, that cherishes restoration of human dignity said Chairman Mwaliteta.

He added that, Zambians have not forgotten how they were dehumanised at the hands of the PF brutal regime.

We don't have a culture of breaking the law with impunity like what we witnessed under Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu and his minions. And all those masquerading as UPND cadres and have recently taken to the streets disturbing peace of innocent people shall be dealt with; with firmness that is proportionate to their behaviour warned Hon Mwaliteta.

He further said, politics of our party are issue-based and we are ready for the negative propagandists and detractors through constructive engagements.

Hon Mwaliteta cautioned all those who deliberately engage in politics of insults, hate speech, divisiveness rather than uniting the country shall encounter the law since it is blind and should brace themselves for a stint in prison.

WE ARE A PRODUCT OF LOVE AND MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD - HH

Approval by Cabinet to amend laws so that stiffer punishment including longer jail sentences for those involving themselves in hate speech and divisive tribal remarks has been effected.

Speaking during a press briefing yesterday at State House, Republican President Mr Hakainde Hichilema said, how parents got to know each other, we don't know but we are a product of love and made in the image of God.

Zambia is one united people without segregating on colour, language, height or tribe said President Hichilema.

He added that, there's no child who chooses parents before they are conceived. We have an obligation to ensure that no one is allowed to destroy the heritage which the 73 tribes enjoy and it didn't matter where they came from but upon establishing Zambia, they became citizens with full constitutional and equal rights.

President Hichilema expressed concern that divisive talk to spew hatred and sowing seeds of division is not acceptable in a Christian nation and allowing such words to be uttered inside a church with one proclaiming that he is a violent man is not acceptable.

He informed the nation that Cabinet resolved that the school curriculum incorporates national values and promotion of national unity in the country.
