Just a few photos from the Lusaka Children’s Football Tournament last month. Thank you so much to everyone who donated to make it happen again this year. We had 6 teams play and stay. They had a great time and played well. However, it seems that every tournament there is a some sort of crisis. It is usually an injury that winds up with someone at the hospital. Thankfully there were no injuries this year. UNFORTUNATELY though, our girls team had their uniforms stolen about half way through the week. They were acting responsibly and washed their uniforms ( by hand as washing machines are not a thing in Bauleni) they hung them to dry in front of the room they were sleeping in and they were gone the next morning. These were new uniforms with RHO and the player’s name on them. The girls felt great playing in them, very
much like they belong in this venue. They had to finish out the tournament in borrowed uniforms from the boys team. It was a disappointing way to
end this annual event, but we are grateful that all teams got to play.

Please help.
GO APPLESEED FOOTBALL!! My center in Zambia still supports 6 soccer teams. U6- U18. The U15 (girls and boys) play regularly. We pay their league fee, coaching, transportation, uniforms and soccer boots. The other teams play in special tournaments 3-4 times a year, but practice regularly.
The problem: Playing on dirt pitches is hard. It’s hard on equipment, shoes and players. Currently most of our players do not have soccer cleats or any other type of tennis shoe that they can play in. As these pictures show they are quite used to playing in bare feet. HOWEVER, some upcoming tournaments are put on by FAZ ( Football Association of Zambia (FAZ)and FAZ does not allow kids
to play with no shoes.
We need 20-30 pairs of soccer cleats ASAP all teams can play at the end of the month. This adds up to $300-$400.
Unfortunately there is a problem with my Weebly website. I cannot update and the donation button has recently stopped working!! UGH! So frustrating!
As so much is happening with aid programs across the world I have found out that some people are confused about Appleseed. We are not a part of USAID. We do not have US non profit status as we are too small and bring in too little in donations to justify spending the money to attempt to to get non profit status.
Funding comes from myself and Ken, and 6 kind donors who give $10-$60 per month. We do not take in what we put out each month. This is why the extras( cleats and balls) are hard to keep up with. Our players and families have NO MEANS to pay fees.
That was a lot. Thanks for taking the time. If you are willing to help, the only way I can currently get funds is through Venmo( website is down)After I receive funds I send them immediately to Coach Shad ( Jenny and Lucy’s uncle) through an app called Remitly.
