His Worship the Mayor of Chongwe, Mr. Fredrick Sashi has joined family members, friends and other mourners in paying their last respects to Mrs Rose Bubala late wife of Mr. Newman Bubala, former General Secretary (GS) of the Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT).

As Mr. Newman Bubala and his family go through this period of grief they are reminded that they are not alone. The community joins them in mourning and extends heartfelt condolences, praying that God will grant them comfort, peace and strength to endure this difficult time.

The Busoli Royal Establishment (BRE) has welcomed and pledged its support for the Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign.

The support follows renewed efforts by civic leaders across the country, including Chongwe Mayor His Worship Mr Frederick Sashi to prioritise public sanitation and cleanliness in public places.

Her Royal Highness Senior Chieftainess Dr. Nkomeshya Mukamambo II said good sanitation and healthy practices were essential for a healthy community.

She reaffirmed that her chiefdom would fully support the initiative.

She added that the campaign had come at the right time as Chongwe District continued efforts to prevent the further spread of cholera following recently reported cases.

She urged Chongwe Municipal Council through the Office of the Mayor, to coordinate and implement the programme effectively pledging her full support.

Meanwhile His Worship The Mayor Mr. Frederick Sashi, accompanied by Chongwe District Commissioner Dr. Evans Lupiya thanked the Busoli Royal Establishment for the warm reception and support towards the implementation of the campaign.

The Mayor pledged to work closely with the Royal Establishment to promote the development and aspirations of the district.

BRE Principal Advisor Prince Kabwata Nkomeshya congratulated the Mayor on his successful election and expressed support for efforts to achieve a clean, healthy and orderly Chongwe District.

Chongwe Mayor, His Worship Mr Frederick Sashi, was among the invited guests who attended this yearโ€™s Mbambala Traditional Ceremony of the Nsenga-Luzi people of Luangwa District, held under the leadership of Senior Chief Mburuma.

The ceremony was held under the theme โ€œGreater Output, Unity and Continuity,โ€ highlighting the importance of unity, cultural preservation and collective efforts towards community development.

Speaking during the ceremony, Guest of Honour and Luangwa District Commissioner, Mr Luke Chikani, said the Government of the Republic of Zambia recognises the important role traditional leaders play in reaching local communities and supporting the implementation of development programmes.

Mr Chikani noted that traditional leaders remain important partners in promoting development and strengthening the relationship between the Government and the people at the grassroots level.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of Senior Chief Mburuma, Mr Joseph congratulated the President of the Republic of Zambia on his re-election and commended the Government for various development initiatives being implemented across the country.

He cited the introduction of free education, school feeding programmes, the increase in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation and the construction of chiefsโ€™ palaces as initiatives that have contributed to development and improved the face of the chiefdom.

Mr Joseph further expressed the chiefdomโ€™s commitment to supporting the Governmentโ€™s Grow Zambia Agenda, emphasising the importance of initiatives aimed at increasing local production and promoting national development.

He also thanked the Government for increased CDF allocations and investments in infrastructure, particularly the construction of schools and health posts, noting their importance in improving access to essential services for local communities.

The Mbambala Traditional Ceremony provided an opportunity for the Nsenga-Luzi people to celebrate their cultural heritage, promote unity and reflect on the role of traditional leadership in advancing community development.

CHONGWE MAYOR CALLS FOR IMPARTIALITY AND INCLUSIVENESS IN SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

Chongwe Mayor, His Worship Mr Fredrick Sashi, has urged members of the District Sports Advisory Committee (DSAC) to uphold impartiality, inclusiveness and professionalism in promoting all sporting disciplines across the district.

Mr Sashi said his vision was to transform Chongwe into a hub for talent identification and a model district for community sports in Zambia.

He was speaking at the Chongwe Civic Centre, during the inaugural address of the DSAC and a sensitisation meeting for sports associations, federations and clubs which attracted representatives from 8 sports displines including Football, Netball, Basketball, Pool, Karate among others.

The Mayor emphasised the need for the committee to represent all sporting disciplines fairly and create opportunities for talent identification and development across the district.

Meanwhile, Chongwe Municipal Council Director of Housing and Social Services, Mr Philemon Nyirenda reaffirmed the Councilโ€™s commitment to working closely with the DSAC to advance sports development in Chongwe.

Mr Nyirenda said collaboration between the Council and the committee would be essential in promoting sports and creating opportunities for local talent to thrive.

DSAC Chairperson, Mr Chikwasha, pledged that his committee would coordinate, advise and promote all sporting disciplines while fostering unity and a shared vision for sports development in the district.
