Russia decided to start its war against Ukraine. Russia can decide to stop it.
Fact: In 2025 alone, Russia rejected seven peace proposals.

No one desires peace more than the Ukrainian people, who have endured Russia’s aggression for more than four years. Russia must stop its war.

Some send statements. Some send delegations. Some show up for the photo. The EU stays for the work.⁣

From election observation at dawn to negotiating tables at midnight. From post-conflict rebuilding in the Sahel to democratic support across the Pacific. Real partnership is not a gesture. It is consistency. It is staying after the headline fades.⁣

That is what the EU does. Not because it is easy. Because the people on the other side of that promise deserve to know we will be there tomorrow, too.⁣

Reliable. And that's the whole point.

Post-harvest losses are one of the most persistent and costly challenges in the agricultural sector, affecting small-scale farmers and off-takers in Zambia and the continent alike. Mizya Damaseke, Founder of Fikile Solutions, built her business around solving this daily problem, creating a fresh produce distribution business that helps meat farmers market their products and makes fresh fruits and vegetables accessible to homes and communities.

Through the technical assistance provided under the Zambia Agriculture Value Chain Facility (ZAVCF), with the support of Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Mizya gained the knowledge and confidence to take the stage, winning the audience vote on the night. Beyond the recognition, the networking truly moved the needle, connecting her with investors, mentors, and peers. Miziya shares how she learnt of the program and how the technical assistance has benefitted her.
Supported by the European Union and the European Investment Bank in collaboration with local banks, the ZAVCF is ensuring that women agripreneurs like Mizya have the information, networks, and financing opportunities to build businesses that solve real problems. Together, we are .

☣️ Regional biosecurity preparedness meets operational pressure in Lusaka regional drill

In Lusaka, 22 biosecurity professionals from 11 countries of East and Central Africa came together to take part in an intensive regional exercise on incidents involving biological dual-use agents.

Organised under the EU CBRN Centres of Excellence Initiative, the exercise was formally opened by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Zambia, Maambo Haamaundu, and Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Zambia Petra Gašparová, underscoring the shared commitment of Zambia and the European Union to building collective resilience against threats that know no borders.

During a full-scale simulation across two locations, border control officers, customs officials, law enforcement personnel and forensic investigators worked in mixed, multi-agency teams through a complex scenario linking a border incident to a clandestine laboratory.

The exercise brought together first response and decontamination, reconnaissance and detection, crime scene investigation, suspect apprehension and interviewing, and the cross-border coordination that ties it all together. The training was carefully adapted to the equipment and protocols already in use across the region, so that what was practised this week can be applied tomorrow.

🫱🏾‍🫲🏽 Jointly implemented by Projects 99 and 106 of the EU CBRN Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence, this exercise shows what synergies between complementary EU initiatives can deliver. It reflects the EU's long-term commitment to strengthening regional security in East and Central Africa through capacity building, expertise exchange, and partnership with national authorities.

We commend all participants for their professionalism and dedication and warmly thank the Government of Zambia for their support in organising this essential training.

Strong regions are built on shared knowledge, trust, and cooperation. Exercises like this one are exactly how that foundation is laid.

🇪🇺 This exercise was funded by the European Union. This is in action!

The European Investment Bank's presence in Zambia is rooted in a clear belief that the right financing, at the right terms, can transform an entire sector. Through the Zambia Agriculture Value Chain Facility (ZAVCF), the EIB is providing long-term financing and risk-sharing instruments that are often unavailable in local markets, supporting farmers and agri-SMEs who are frequently seen as too risky by traditional lenders.
Alongside financing, technical assistance is building the capacity of both financial institutions and beneficiaries, ensuring the support creates lasting impact. Through this approach and in collaborating with local banks, the European Union and the European Investment Bank are delivering on their commitment to Zambia's national priorities and the broader EU Global Gateway strategy for sustainable development.
Together, we are .

The Zambia Agriculture Value Chain Facility’s main beneficiaries are SMEs. These agribusinesses are important to the value chain because they are the link between smallholder farmers and the market place.
