ICTAZ and Huawei Strengthen Collaboration to Advance ICT Skills Development
In its continued commitment to delivering value to its members, the ICT Association of Zambia (ICTAZ) has intensified engagement with strategic partners. Recently, ICTAZ CEO Chellah Silavwe held a high-level meeting with Dylan Lyu, Managing Director of Huawei Technologies Zambia Company Limited.
The engagement resulted in an agreement on key high-level terms toward a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The proposed partnership is set to provide ICTAZ members across all membership categories and levels with access to Huawei training programmes and globally recognized certifications. This initiative will be facilitated through Huawei’s provision of training materials and certification opportunities as a direct benefit to ICTAZ members. Importantly, these trainings will be recognized and accredited as ICTAZ Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes in line with the ICTAZ CPD Policy, thereby contributing directly to members’ professional development requirements.
Under this collaboration, Huawei will offer three tiers of certification, namely the Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA), Huawei Certified ICT Professional (HCIP), and Huawei Certified ICT Expert (HCIE). These certifications will span a wide range of critical and emerging technology domains including Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Big Data, Cloud Services, Computing, Storage, Cybersecurity, and 5G technologies.
Beyond training and certification, the two institutions also explored broader areas of collaboration. These include participation in the Huawei ICT Competition, ICTAZ Young Innovators Day, as well as the upcoming TICON Conference.
Through this strategic partnership, ICTAZ and Huawei aim to significantly strengthen ICT skills development and capacity building within Zambia, particularly in Huawei technologies. Currently, Huawei Technologies Zambia employs largely local personnel, with about 70% being local professionals, demonstrating a strong commitment to local talent development, while maintaining a significant global presence.
This collaboration further reinforces ICTAZ’s position as a leading professional body dedicated to championing professionalism, empowering ICT practitioners, and delivering member-centric value through inclusiveness, innovation, and sustainability, true to its ethos of .
