ABOUT ROAD RAGE
Driving is a craft. We learn, practice and perfect it every time we get behind the wheel.
However, driving on shared roads comes with its own challenges, which, if not handled well, can cause problems for both the driver and other road users.
If you are not careful, BP ikwela so... 😅
Ba Lusaka, kutikeni aii!
On a daily basis, 2 out of every 10 cases reported to our National Call Centre are related to road rage. Kuma nkala ma tempa pama road... 😅
So, what animal is this road rage?
Road rage is an act of uncontrolled anger, violence or dangerous behaviour displayed by a motorist, triggered by an incident or frustration while driving.
This may include shouting, making rude gestures, excessive honking, tailgating, cutting other drivers off or physically confronting someone.
Road rage can often be triggered by heavy traffic, running late, high levels of stress or perceived slights from other motorists.
So, how do you avoid road rage or control it?
Never engage or exchange words with aggressive drivers.
Do not return rude gestures, and give aggressive drivers plenty of space.
Always try to remain calm. Start your trips or journeys early so that you do not feel rushed, and consider listening to calming music.
If a driver follows you or threatens your safety, take note of their registration mark and drive directly to the nearest police station. You can also call us on 0955 983983 to report the incident.
Two wrongs can never make a right, bane.
