COUNCIL CONCLUDES COMMUNITY SPORTS SENSITISATION MEETINGS
The Council, in collaboration with the District Sports Advisory Committee (DSAC), has successfully concluded community sensitisation meetings for stakeholders and community members across all thirteen wards of Luwingu District on developments in community sports.
The sensitisation meetings were aimed at updating communities on the direction of sports development in line with the National Sports Policy and explaining the rationale behind the devolution of community sports functions to local authorities.
The meetings also focused on educating community members and stakeholders on the roles and responsibilities of the District Sports Advisory Committee (DSAC) in promoting, coordinating, and supporting sports activities at the district level.

PUBLIC NOTICE - GRANTS HANDOVER CEREMONY.
This notice serves to inform all organised groups ,Clubs and Cooperatives selected to benefit from the 2026 (CDF) Community Empowerment Grants, that a handover ceremony will be held on Thursday, 4th June 2026, at President's Park, commencing at 09:00 hours.
All shortlisted cooperatives and clubs are requested to send their Chairpersons and Secretaries to attend this important event.
Members of the general public are also invited to witness this significant handover ceremony.

VOTER EDUCATION FACILITATORS (VEFs) DEPLOYED IN VARIOUS WARDS OF LUWINGU
The Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs) in Luwingu District have been deployed in readiness for the voter education programme scheduled to commence on 1st June 2026, ahead of the General Elections set for 13th August 2026.
The VEFs will conduct voter education activities across the district, aimed at enhancing citizens' understanding of the electoral process and encouraging informed participation in elections.
The programme seeks to reduce voter apathy and minimize the number of spoiled and rejected ballot papers through increased voter awareness and civic engagement.

VOTER EDUCATION FACILITATORS (VEFs) AND PEER EDUCATORS UNDERGO TRAINING.
Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs) and Correctional Service Peer Educators are currently undergoing a voter education training under the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) ahead of the voter education activities scheduled to commence on 1st June, 2026.
The training is aimed at equipping the facilitators and peer educators with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively conduct voter education activities within their respective communities.
The programme will help ensure that citizens are well informed about the electoral process, voter rights and responsibilities, as well as the importance of participating in democratic processes.

DVEC, VESC PATRONS AND MATRONS TRAINED BY ECZ AHEAD OF THE VOTER EDUCATION PROGRAMME COMMENCEMENT.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia ( ECZ ) has commenced training of the District Voter Education Committee( DVEC) members , Zambia News and Information Service (ZANIS) Personnel,, and Voter Education School Club Patrons and Matrons, ahead of the voter education activities scheduled to commence on 1st June , 2026 .
District Electoral Officer (DEO) Mr. Gift Kakoma officiated the training at New Namukolo Lodge , emphasizing the need for DVEC members to reach all corners of the District with voter education messages in order to reduce voter apathy in the upcoming general elections slated for 13th August , 2026 .
