And speaking on behalf of ZESCO Managing Director Eng. Justin Loongo, Director of Projects and Planning Eng. Francis Namakanda said the handover demonstrates effective government to government collaboration in extending electricity services to rural and underserved communities.

This afternoon, the REA team joined the Makosa family and loved ones in laying to rest our brother, friend & colleague, Niza Makosa.

A humble, hardworking & dependable team player whose calm presence and kindness touched many of us in ways words cannot fully explain.

People often say good things when someone passes on, but for Niza, this was truly who he was. Quietly dedicated. Respectful. Genuine. Always willing to help.

The office will not be the same without him.

Rest in eternal glory, Niza. You will be deeply missed.

HAPPY SUNDAY!

Government has commissioned the Watopa Grid Intensification Project in Kabompo and Lukulu Districts, with Defence Minister Ambrose Lufuma representing Vice-President Dr. W.K Mutale-Nalumango at the ceremony.

The project, implemented by REA, is bringing electricity to key public institutions including Kaluwawa Secondary School, Watopa and Kamisamba Rural Health Centres, the local market, Chief Kangombeโ€™s Palace, and surrounding communities.

Completed at an estimated cost of K5.3 million, the project involved the construction of over 2 kilometres of 33kV line and more than 11 kilometres of distribution network, with over 200 households and businesses immediately eligible for connection under the K300 subsidy programme.

This development contributes to Governmentโ€™s ambitious drive to deliver over 115,000 new electricity connections this year, as Zambia progresses towards universal access to electricity by 2030.
