China boosts Zambia Police transport fleet

By Alice Lubasi

The Chinese government has handed over 80 motor vehicles to the Zambian Government for use by the Zambia Police Service.

Home Affairs Minister JACK MWIIMBU says the vehicles will help address the transport challenges facing the ministry and improve operational efficiency.

Mr. MWIIMBU was speaking in Lusaka when he received the vehicles on behalf of government from Chinese Ambassador to Zambia HAN JING.

He said the donation reflects the long-standing and mutually beneficial relationship between Zambia and China.

And Mr. HAN said the vehicles would help the Zambia Police strengthen law enforcement operations, including patrol response, crime prevention and the maintenance of public order.

He said the donation also symbolises the friendship between the governments and people of Zambia and China.

Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police GRAPHEL MUSAMBA said the vehicles will be strategically distributed across all 10 provinces, especially in areas facing transport challenges.

29/04/26.
Earlier today, we held a critical consultative meeting with representatives from the To***co Board of Zambia (TBZ) and various licensed to***co buyers to address the ongoing to***co marketing season.
The following were in attendance
Nkeyema ward Councillor, WDC, police, office of the president, tbz, and park industry company.

As your Council Chairperson and team we believe that farming is a business between a buyer and a producer (farmer) hence this should be a win win agreement no one should exploit the other , our priority is ensuring that our farmers the backbone of Nkeyema’s economy receive fair value for their hard work.

Below are the key outcomes and updates from today’s deliberations.
Fair Pricing Protections: The TBZ has reaffirmed that it will only approve price matrices that align with the cost-of-production benchmark.
This is a vital measure to protect you from exploitation and ensure your efforts are fairly compensated as farmers.
Operational Standards: We have received assurances that all payments will be made as soon as possible after a farmer has supplied without much delay.

This year God has blessed us with good rains and farmers have responded positively to the call of the president and we want them to be appreciated.
We also agreed that the market target should not be limited but it should be able to absorb all crops produced by our hardworking farmers .

We appeal to our to***co growers to remain patient as we push for 100% buyer compliance. We will l be working closely with the To***co Board of Zambia to ensure a smooth, orderly, and profitable season for all stakeholders in Nkeyema.
Together, let us make the 2026 season a success for our district.

Hon. Rayford Mulyata Chitoti
Council Chairperson

To the good people of Nkeyema District, it is with a sense of renewed hope and duty that I share the highlights of my recent engagement with our Republican Vice President, Her Honor Mrs. Mutale W.K. Nalumango during her visit to our province. As your Nkeyema Council Chairperson, my primary mandate is to ensure that the voice of our district is heard at the highest levels of government, and this meeting was a significant step toward securing the development we all desire.
Our interactions with the Vice President focused on a clear, shared vision: transforming Nkeyema from a transit point into a thriving economic hub. The Vice President’s visit to our province and our follow-up interactions have reaffirmed the New Dawn government’s commitment to our district’s growth, specifically through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) which continues to be a game-changer for our rural communities.

PRESS RELEASE
(For Immediate Release
22nd April 2026

CDF to Support Establishment of First-Ever Boarding School in Nkeyema

Nkeyema District is set to have its first-ever boarding school following the allocation of funds for constructing boarding facilities at Kahare Secondary School in Litoya Ward.

The Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) allocated funds from the 2026 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) community projects to build two dormitories, a dining hall, two ablution blocks, and a kitchen at Kahare Secondary School.

This aims to complete Kahare Secondary School, which is currently under construction by the Central government, as a fully-fledged boarding secondary school.

It is expected that establishing the boarding school will boost the uptake of CDF boarding school bursaries, which are currently low due to the lack of existing boarding facilities in the district.

The establishment of the boarding school will also help protect learners from vices such as early pregnancies, alcohol, and drug abuse, as they will be lodged in a secure environment rather than in communities surrounding day secondary schools.

Nkeyema Town Council has allocated a total of K24 million for community projects under the 2026 CDF funding cycle.

Other community projects scheduled for implementation in 2026 include the construction of 1x3 classroom blocks each at Mawilo, Chibuli, and Nkeyema Secondary Schools, the construction of an ablution block at Kandende Secondary School, the construction of a health post at Kabwize Health Post along with the procurement of medical equipment, the construction of a 2-megawatt solar plant, and the construction of a juvenile detention cell at Munkuye Police Post.

“Discipline Over Numbers”: Commissioners Dissolve Sikongo UPND Structures.

The UPND Western Province Election Commission has dissolved the constituency and district party structures due to persistent internal disputes and factional gridlock.

Fresh elections are set for Sunday, 12th May, to allow for peaceful campaigns and a leadership reset.

The commissioners, who are also members of the National Management Committee, paid a courtesy call on Sikongo District Commissioner Henry Imbuyamwale, who reported that deep-seated divisions had made the local political environment volatile.

National Youth Chairman Gilbert Liswaniso warned that the party will not tolerate "rogue elements," stating that President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND would rather lose with disciplined members in the district than win with unruly ones.

Deputy Mobilization Chairman Romeo Kan’gombe assured local authorities of a more cohesive and disciplined Sikongo leadership moving forward.

TODAY, 10th April 2026, we COMMISSIONED a USD1.1 BILLION PRIVATE SECTOR-DRIVEN CRUDE OIL REFINERY project.

As a government, we officially launched the construction of a USD 1.1 billion crude oil refinery in Ndola, spearheaded by private investors through Fujian Xiang Xin Corporation and ZPEC.

We emphasized that the project demonstrates strong investor confidence under President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration.

The refinery will have a processing capacity of approximately 60,000 barrels per day, support industries such as mining, and include LPG, bitumen, and lubricant production.

It is anticipated to create over 2,200 construction jobs and sustain more than 2,600 jobs once operational, while enhancing energy security and industrial growth.
