MUFUMBWE TOWN COUNCIL FIRE BRIGADE HOLDS SAFETY TRAINING AT CHINA RAILWAYS SEVENTH GROUP

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4TH, 2026

Mufumbwe Town Council’s Fire Brigade staff recently conducted a fire safety training session at the China Railways Seventh Group site in Matushi Ward.

The training, led by Fire Officer Alex Chanda, focused on strengthening institutional safety measures and improving emergency response readiness among staff and workers at the facility.

Topics covered during the session included basic fire dynamics, operation of portable firefighting equipment, fire wardenship, fire drill and emergency evacuation procedures, and fire safety prevention and protection measures.

Mufumbwe Town Council continues to prioritize fire safety education for both public institutions and private organizations to reduce risks and protect lives and property.

MUFUMBWE TOWN COUNCIL CONDUCTS REVISED CASH FOR WORK SENSITIZATION IN DONGWE CONSTITUENCY

Wednesday, June 3rd , 2026.

​The Mufumbwe Town Council conducted a series of sensitization meetings on the revised Cash for Work (CfW) program across several wards in Dongwe Constituency, aiming to equip local communities with vital information ahead of the official program rollout.

​The sensitization teams successfully covered the scheduled zones, engaging stakeholders and residents in the following areas:

​Mushima Ward
​Kaminzekezenke Ward
​Miluji Ward

​To ensure comprehensive community participation and representation, Data Entry Clerks closely coordinated with Ward Development Committees (WDCs), Community Welfare Assistance Committees (CWACs), School Development and Management Committees (SDMCs), traditional leadership, and local residents.

​The primary objective of these meetings was to educate residents on the updated Cash for Work program guidelines, beneficiary selection criteria, the implementation process, and the specific roles community members will play.

By fostering clear communication, the Council aims to promote absolute transparency and guarantee a smooth, well-prepared implementation phase.

​The Mufumbwe Town Council remains deeply committed to serving the general public with the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and openness in all its developmental initiatives.

PROGRESS UPDATE

UPDATE ON CDF: THE GAME CHANGER FEEDER ROAD KALENGWA–KABIPUPU FEEDER ROAD REHABILITATION

TUESDAY JUNE 2ND, 2026

Following the official resumption of works on 30th May 2026, the Council’s Roads Section has mobilized to site and commenced rehabilitation activities on the Kalengwa–Kabipupu Road.

SCOPE OF WORKS:
- Road formation improvement and reshaping of the carriageway
- Grading and correction of camber to enhance drainage
- Opening and cleaning of side drains to restore water flow paths
- Spot gravelling of severely deteriorated sections
- Placement of rubble stone and rock fill in waterlogged and failed sections

The works, funded under the Constituency Development Fund [CDF], are progressing as scheduled. The Council remains committed to restoring full access along the corridor to support farmers, traders, and residents of Kalengwa and Kabipupu.

Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to observe caution in active work zones and follow guidance from site personnel.

COMMENCEMENT OF THE VOTER EDUCATION EXERCISE

MONDAY, 1ST JUNE 2026

Mufumbwe District has officially commenced the Voter Education Exercise. Deployment of Voter Education Facilitators began today, 1st June 2026, and the VEFS are already on the ground in all wards conducting sessions with members of the public.

The exercise will run for two months, from 1st June 2026 to 1st August 2026. During this period, Voter Education Facilitators will continue to provide accurate information on the electoral process, voter rights, and civic responsibilities.

The objective of this exercise is to ensure that all citizens of Mufumbwe are well informed and prepared to participate peacefully and effectively in the electoral process.

For further information, members of the public are encouraged to contact the District Electoral Office or engage with Voter Education Facilitators in their respective wards.

MUFUMBWE DISTRICT HOLDS SIGNING CEREMONY FOR VOTER EDUCATION FACILITATORS AHEAD OF DEPLOYMENT

Monday June 1st,2026

Mufumbwe District held its signing ceremony and oath-taking for Voter Education Facilitators (VEFS) yesterday in the Council Chamber, in readiness for the voter education exercise set to begin on 1st June 2026.

The event was graced by the Acting District Electoral Officer, Ms. Mary Chiponge, who also serves as the Returning Officer for Mufumbwe Constituency. The ceremony brought together DVEC members and the newly recruited VEFS.

During the event, facilitators signed the official declaration and took the oath of office, pledging to carry out their duties with neutrality, accuracy, professionalism, and respect for the Constitution and the law.

Ms. Chiponge emphasized that the purpose of the voter education exercise is to empower citizens with knowledge of their rights, responsibilities, and the importance of participating in a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process.

The VEFS departed yesterday for deployment across all wards, where they will begin work today to engage communities and provide accurate information on voting.

The District Electoral Office reaffirms its commitment to conducting transparent, inclusive, and credible voter education in Mufumbwe District.

MUFUMBWE DISTRICT HOLDS 5-DAY TRAINING FOR VEFS AT KYAMWINA PRIMARY SCHOOL

FRIDAY MAY 29th, 2026

Mufumbwe District has concluded a 5-day training for Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs), held at the Resource Centre Hall, Kyamwina Primary School.

The training was aimed at equipping VEFs with the knowledge and skills required to carry out the voter education exercise ahead of the General Elections set for 13th August 2026.

As part of the training, participants sat for an assessment test to gauge their readiness for the voter education exercise, which is scheduled to run from 1st June to 1st August 2026.

Mufumbwe District reaffirms its commitment to ensuring voter education reaches every corner of the district. The focus now is on deploying the trained VEFs to mobilize the public and promote high voter turnout.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia continues to emphasize neutrality, inclusivity, and objectivity as key principles in delivering credible, informed, and peaceful electoral processes.
