The filing in of nominations for aspiring Council Chairperson candidates in Rufunsa District is currently ongoing ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

So far, the following aspiring candidates have successfully filed their nominations for the position of Council Chairperson for Rufunsa Constituency:

1.Lawrence Musopelo – Independent
2. Ireen Chikatula – UPND
3. Bartholomew Kalambalala – NRPUP

The nomination process is being conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner in accordance with the guidelines set by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Further updates will be provided as the exercise continues.

The District Electoral Officer officially opened the nomination centre for the Council Chairperson elections at exactly 09:00 hours.

The exercise marks the beginning of the nomination process, with aspiring candidates expected to successfully file in their nominations in line with the Electoral Commission guidelines.

Rufunsa, Wednesday 20th May 2026

Aspiring candidates in Rufunsa District have successfully filed their nominations for the National Assembly elections ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

A total of three aspiring candidates successfully filed their nominations today to contest for the National Assembly seat in Rufunsa Constituency.

The Names are as follows:
1.Francis Jilowa -Socialist Party
2. Sheal Mulyata - UPND
3.Patson Mumba-Independent
4. Dumisani Gumbi-NRPUP

The nominations were conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner in accordance with the provisions and guidelines set by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

The Commission has since encouraged all stakeholders, political parties, candidates, and members of the public to continue promoting peace, unity, and adherence to the electoral code of conduct throughout the electoral process.

The official campaign period is expected to commence on 29th May 2026 and will run until 12th August 2026.
