Ward 5 Meeting held on 16 September 2026 led by Cllr Mavetera

The meeting discussed ways to improve environmental management. Residents were also given the opportunity to share their views on environmental management. Issues raised included the lack of a proper sewer network, resulting in frequent blockages; the lack of water supply in a major part of Ward 5; the dumping of waste in undesignated places; and the establishment of speed humps. The meeting was led by Ward Cllr Mavetera. ZRP were also given the opportunity to educate residents on girl child protection, security issues around the area, and how to report sensitive issues.

📍 WARD 6 COMMUNITY MEETING

A Ward 6 community meeting was held on 16 September 2026 to engage residents on the Local Environmental Management Plan, focusing on environmental management, community participation, and practical measures to promote a clean, healthy and sustainable ward.

The engagement provided an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to share ideas, identify environmental challenges, and discuss solutions for improving the local environment.

🚜 UNVEILING OF NEW COUNCIL EQUIPMENT & TOUR OF MAJOR PROJECTS

On Monday, 14 September 2026, the Municipality of Chegutu held the Unveiling of New Council Equipment and Tour of Major Projects Under Implementation. The event was attended by Councillors, Council Management, the District Development Coordinator (DDC), and other Government officials.

The event saw the unveiling of a Tipper Truck, Backhoe Loader and Operational Vehicle, procured as part of Council’s efforts to strengthen its operational capacity and improve service delivery. Additional equipment, including a Refuse Compactor, Grader, Tractor and other operational vehicles, has also been procured, with delivery currently underway.

The team also toured major projects under implementation, including the Swimming Pool, Pickstone Road, Chakari Road and William Booth High School, which is being constructed through a partnership with the Salvation Army Church.

The Municipality remains committed to strengthening its operational capacity, developing critical infrastructure and improving service delivery for the residents of Chegutu.

🚜 NEW SERVICE DELIVERY EQUIPMENT FOR MUNICIPALITY OF CHEGUTU

The Municipality of Chegutu is pleased to announce the arrival of brand-new service delivery equipment — a Backhoe Loader and a Tipper Truck — as part of Council’s continued commitment to improving municipal service delivery.

The procurement of this equipment is in line with the 2026 Strategic Direction and the approved 2026 Budget, which prioritise the strengthening of Council’s operational capacity, infrastructure maintenance and responsive service delivery to residents.

The new equipment will significantly enhance Council’s capacity to undertake road maintenance, drainage works, water and sewer repairs, earthworks and other essential municipal operations, reducing reliance on hired equipment and improving the efficiency and speed of service delivery.

This is only the beginning. More service delivery equipment is in the pipeline for delivery to Council, including a Grader, Refuse Compactor and additional operational vehicles.

The Municipality remains committed to building a functional, vibrant and prosperous city, supported by modern equipment, improved infrastructure and responsive municipal services.

A better-equipped Council means better service delivery.
