UNDERSTANDING PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS

Why are Public-Private Partnerships part of the conversation with the media?
Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) provide an important mechanism for mobilising private sector capital, expertise and innovation towards the delivery of infrastructure and public services.

During the ZIDA Media Engagement Forum, the Agency's PPP team engaged journalists on Zimbabwe's PPP framework, the project development process and the respective institutional roles involved in taking projects from concept through approval towards implementation.

For ZIDA, engaging the media on PPPs is important because informed reporting helps stakeholders understand both the opportunities and the processes underpinning private sector participation in national development. It also enables the media to communicate developments within the PPP pipeline from an informed and technically grounded position.

Hunde Solar Power Project

Powering Communities. Driving Sustainable Growth.
The Hunde Solar Power Project represents more than a renewable energy investment it is an integrated infrastructure development designed to support Zimbabwe's industrial growth and expanding communities. Situated in Gweru, Midlands Province, the proposed 100MW utility-scale Solar PV project combines clean energy generation with a planned 3,750-stand mixed-use development, creating reliable embedded demand while supplying electricity to utility, industrial, mining, commercial and residential customers.

• Projected revenue of US$317.43 million over 25 years

Orangerose Investments Battery Manufacturing Facility

Powering the Future Through Advanced Energy Storage
Zimbabwe is moving beyond mineral extraction to value addition and the Orangerose Investments 2GWh Lithium Battery & Energy Storage Assembly Facility is at the forefront of that transformation. Developed in partnership with National Power Storage (Australia), this US$33 million investment will establish Zimbabwe's first large-scale Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery assembly and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility. The project will assemble, test, programme and certify advanced battery systems for utility-scale, mining, industrial, commercial and renewable energy applications, positioning Zimbabwe as a regional hub for energy storage solutions.
