Word of the Week.

Our word of the week is vorbereiten (verb)

Vorbereiten means to make something ready before an event, activity, or task. It can be used for preparing things, preparing yourself, or planning ahead.

The word vorbereiten is made up of vor (before / in advance) and bereiten (to make ready, to arrange). It literally means "to make something ready beforehand."

And because today is Throwback Thursday, we take a look back at our preparations for the German Unity day last week.

Africa Skills Week comes to Zimbabwe! 🦾

This year, Harare hosts the 2026 edition of Africa Skills week at the Harare International Conference Centre.

An Initiative of the African Union, Africa Skills Week was conceived as an instrument to strengthen the value chain from education to skills to jobs and productivity. ⛓️

Germany remains a key partner of the African Union. In his solidarity message during the opening of Africa Skills Week yesterday, Ambassador Christoph Retzlaff, noted that "Germany has much to learn from Africa particularly from its young people, entrepreneurs, innovators and rapidly changing economies." and that "the future of skills cooperation between Germany and Africa should not be about donor and recipient. It should be about partners solving shared challenges."

You too can be a partner in this process! Africa Skills Week runs until the 16th of October and virtual participation is possible.
