Civil Registry Department SCOOPS Best Government Department Stand at Manicaland Agricultural Show

The Civil Registry Department Zimbabwe(CRD) was awarded Best Government Department Stand at the just-ended Manicaland Agricultural Show in Mutare, in recognition of its effective public engagement and service delivery.

The Department provided replacement of lost birth certificates and national identity documents and issuance of livestock brands, while educating members of the public on death registration, marriages, citizenship and travel documents.

Following the recent assumption of the Voter Registration function, the Department also registered eligible citizens and raised awareness.

The stand was visited by Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, who toured the exhibition and interacted with the CRD team.

The award underscores the Department’s commitment to taking essential civil registration and identity services closer to the people while keeping the public informed and empowered.

30 VEHICLES COMMISSIONED FOR CIVIL REGISTRY DEPARTMENT

Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Hon. Dr. Kazembe Kazembe today commissioned 30 vehicles for the Civil Registry Department at the National Production Centre in Harare.

The new fleet will strengthen the Civil Registry Department 's mobility and operational capacity, easing transport challenges and enhancing supervision, revenue collection and the delivery of civil registration and identity services to communities across the country.

The development is a significant boost towards strengthening decentralised, accessible and efficient civil registration services for all Zimbabweans.

The Civil Registry Department Zimbabwe was honoured to receive the Chief Election Officer (CEO) at its stand during the ongoing Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.

The Registrar-General Mr. Henry Tawona Machiri received the CEO Dr. Simbarashe Tongayi who toured the Civil Registry Department stand and engaged with the team on the services being showcased to the public.

The visit comes as the Department has recently taken on the new function of Voter Registration, further expanding the range of essential services brought closer to citizens.

The Registrar-General also took the opportunity to interact with members of staff manning the stand and appreciate their efforts in engaging members of the public throughout the exhibition.

A New Chapter in Voter Registration 🇿🇼

The transition is underway!

The transfer of voter registration functions from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to the Civil Registry Department (CRD) is progressing, with the two institutions working closely to ensure a smooth, seamless and well-coordinated transition.

As Zimbabwe moves forward, collaboration remains key to ensuring that eligible citizens can register and exercise their right to vote.
