Intergenerational mentorship falls in line with the AWLN_Zim Network’s efforts to sustain the women’s movement within the country. In the AWLN Zimbabwe Chapter launched a Second Cohort of its Intergenerational Mentorship Programme. At present the programme has capacitated eighty-seven (87) women on Activism and Advocacy, Business Leadership and Political Leadership. A key innovation under the programme was the development of an AWLN_Zim owned Intergenerational Mentorship Manual. The African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) Zimbabwe Chapter also hosted its first ever High-Level Intergenerational Regional Dialogue and Solidarity Forum on Women’s Political Participation under the AWLN Governance Pillar Mid-2023. The event was attended by the President’s office, Dignitaries, Representatives of the SADC Parliamentary Forum, Senior Members of the AWLN Network, Representatives of the African Union, Civil Society, Youth Parliament, Academia and the Media and resulted in: 1.Reaffirmation of commitment by multiple stakeholders, donors and the Government of Zimbabwe towards the promotion of women’s leadership and political participation.
2. Global, regional and country level experience-sharing among women leaders on WPP.
3. Wide coverage and awareness raising on women’s equal political participation and a peaceful violent free election, through media coverage on national television and radio.-A press statement was also developed following the engagements during high-level dialogue and solidarity forum.
4.Capturing of recommendations to promote young women’s leadership and political participation within the country.

The AWLN_Zim Chapter contributed towards the development of an Advocacy Brief on disability inclusion in democratic spaces for women with disabilities (WWD), by conducting a consultative engagement with key disability-inclusion stakeholders. The brief will be used by AWLN Zimbabwe Chapter in 2024 to lobby and advocate for equal participation, representation, and inclusion of women with Disabilities (WWD) in politics.

As part of efforts to plan, stategise and hold discussions towards bettering the Network’s operations, governance and national engagement within the country, the AWLN_Zim Chapter holds a stategizising retreat each year. This key retreat has enabled the Chapter members to interact and engage around the mandate of the Network, innovate and proffer recommendations for greater impact of work.

To engage women leaders at grassroots level, the AWLN Zimbabwe Chapter continues to decentralise its mandate at Provincial Level. In 2023, an AWLN Provincial Chapter was successfully launched in Mashonaland East. At present the AWLN_Zim Chapter has established 3 Provincial Chapters.
