Unlocking bankability: Governance, Enhanced Revenue and Investor Confidence for Urban Resilience
The webinar “Unlocking Bankability: Governance, Enhanced Revenue, and Investor Confidence for Urban Resilience” is a virtual capacity-building event scheduled for 4 February 2026. Organized by the International Credit Rating Agency (ICRA), the Urban Councils Association of Zimbabwe (UCAZ), and UN-Habitat, the session aims to help Zimbabwe’s urban councils strengthen their ability to access sustainable finance for service delivery, infrastructure development, and climate-resilient urban growth.
Urban councils continue to face significant obstacles, including limited own-source revenue, restricted access to financing, and low investor confidence. These challenges hinder their ability to fund essential services and resilience initiatives. The webinar addresses these gaps by promoting governance reforms, improved financial management, increased revenue generation, and the adoption of credit ratings as tools to enhance municipal bankability and credibility.
The discussion will centre on three key thematic areas:
1. Strengthening urban governance and service delivery (led by UCAZ);
2. Enhancing financial credibility, management practices, and credit ratings (led by credit ;
3. Improving own-source revenue and readiness for climate and sustainable finance (led by UN-Habitat).
Using technical presentations, case studies, panel discussions, and interactive dialogue, the event will provide practical solutions linking governance, revenue systems, and access to development and climate finance. Target participants include urban councils, government officials, investors, financial institutions, development partners, civil society, and urban development practitioners. By the end of the webinar, attendees are expected to gain actionable insights and steps to improve the bankability, resilience, and sustainability of Zimbabwe’s urban councils.

The City of Masvingo is proud to join the global observance of *16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence*. This year’s campaign highlights the urgent issue of digital violence against women and girls.
We stand united to say, *"UNITE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls."* From trolling and cyberbullying to image-based abuse and online grooming, digital tools are increasingly used to harm and harass. These actions not only create unsafe online spaces but can also lead to offline violence, having lasting impacts on survivors.
