This year’s rain season will look most like this: • October to early November: Likely dry or below average rainfall to begin with, slower onset of the rains.

• Late season (after February): The usual tail of the rainy season; how things go depends on what happens earlier.
• Risks / caveats: Because of the delayed start, early planted crops might suffer from moisture stress. Also, once rain picks up, there remains a risk of heavy or sudden downpours (especially given the region’s exposure to Indian Ocean influences).
