The periphery of most of suburbs such as Pumula South, Cowdray Park, Luveve, Gwabalanda, Khami, Range more , St Peters, Mazwi villages and others areas are a hive of sand poachers . As the dog massive holes they leave behind a trail of environmental damage, degrading land and death traps especially for children’s who are most likely to fall, drown and die. Some of these holes have accumulated water and are now used by local churches for baptism ceremonies. We can not also ignore the possible health impacts of water borne diseases as vectors such as mosquitoes find a breeding ground
We know of great efforts done by local authorities, the police and Environmental Management Agency to apprehend these criminals who sometimes even travel at night using unregistered vehicles.What do you thing should be done to discourage illegal sand poaching ?
