Axstarz Trading Private Limited will, this Independence and Easter holiday, partner with ambulance service providers (EMRAS, MARS, NetStar, St John, ACE, Ambulance Care Evacuation, CIMAS Rescue, ER24, BMC), in deploying emergency ambulances at strategic points across the whole country. We have identified high accident zones and we have formed rapid reaction teams to cover these notorious ‘’black sports ‘’on our major highways. These high accident zones were identified after consultations with ZRP National Traffic and Highway Patrol. ZRP will also form part of the rapid reaction team.
We had several dialogues along the way with responsible authorities like the Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ), Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ), Civil Protection Unit (CPU), District and Provincial hospitals and also got an assurance from the Ministry Of Health department that all road traffic accident victims will be guaranteed of treatment at the various government medical centres in case of an emergency.
As our mandate, of providing services to the rest of the community, we will swiftly carry out our duties with a high level of competency. Though we do not wish for any mishappennings along our roads, we have, however, decided to be always on guard and high alert, so that no emergencies go unattended. Saving lives is our major priority in this practice. In the event of an emergency, members of our reaction teams will swiftly ferry the injured to the nearest medical centres for treatment.
This, in addition to providing a potentially lifesaving service to the motoring public in the event of accidents, means that this time around, we will stand on alert and try to minimise road carnages unlike in the previous years where road disasters claimed lots of lives. We are, however, also banking on the awareness campaigns and road shows being carried out by partners in educating the generality of the community on precautions and measures that can be taken to reduce the occurrences of road traffic accidents.
This is the first time we are doing this. It is innovative and ground breaking. There is potential to save lives while generating income during these kinds of periods. It is also in line with thinking nationally in Ministry of Transport, ZTSC, MOHCC and Civil Protection Unit (CPU) on how to mitigate against loss of lives over holidays in the event of serious motor vehicle accidents.
