EU sanctions are peaceful restrictive measures targeting specific actors that threaten peace and security.

EU Sanctions are designed to minimise unintended harm to civilians, with special exemptions for humanitarian aid and essential needs.

From conferences and competitions to exchanges and cultural events, youth have been at the 💙 of many of our activities in the UAE.

This time we brought together many of those young participants to reconnect, share ideas and explore new opportunities for EU-youth engagement. 🇪🇺🇦🇪

Europe and the UAE are building momentum in AI. 🇪🇺🇦🇪

The European Union Delegation to the UAE, in partnership with the EU-UAE Business Council and through the EU-GCC Dialogue for Economic Diversification project, organised today an EU-UAE AI Business and Investment Breakfast.

The event brought together experts, businesses, investors and policymakers to explore opportunities for increased investment, stronger business partnerships and innovation in artificial intelligence.

By combining the UAE’s scale, infrastructure and capacity for rapid deployment with the EU’s world-class research, industrial expertise, 19 AI factories and seven upcoming AI gigafactories, the EU and the UAE can unlock new opportunities for cooperation and growth.

The EU is helping keep Ukrainian food moving.

Since 2022, the Solidarity Lanes have helped Ukrainian grain and other goods reach global markets.

But alternative routes cannot replace safe access to the Black Sea, through which around 90% of Ukraine’s agricultural exports pass.

Food must never be a weapon of war.

The international community must press for:

🚢 Safe passage for commercial ships
🌾 Protection of food infrastructure
🕊️ A full and unconditional ceasefire

A ceasefire leading to peace is in everyone’s interest.

Attacks on critical infrastructure, including ports and transport routes, are never acceptable.

Ukraine’s harvest can only feed people if it can reach them.

More than 9 million tonnes of grain, oilseeds and meal could be left without available storage and unable to be exported.

Why does Ukraine grain matter to you?

Because food security depends on reliable global supply chains.

When major trade routes be it in Ukraine or the Strait of Hormuz are disrupted, the effects reach countries thousands of kilometres away.

Food security is a global issue.

27/10/2026

Russia’s war on Ukrainian trade is a war on global food security.

Russia’s attacks on ports, ships and transport routes are making it harder for Ukrainian food to reach global markets.

In the Gulf, this food security crisis is further aggravated by the Strait of Hormuz blockage.

The future of AI will be built through innovation and cooperation. 🇪🇺🇦🇪

The EU is investing in the infrastructure, research and policy frameworks needed to strengthen its AI ecosystem.

The UAE is also developing a dynamic AI ecosystem, creating new opportunities for research, technology, investment and innovation.

AI Gigafactories are one part of Europe’s effort: providing the large-scale computing capacity needed to develop and deploy advanced AI.

Alongside investment in infrastructure, the EU is also working to build trust in AI through the AI Act and initiatives such as the AI Pact.

For the EU and the UAE, this creates space for continued dialogue and potential cooperation across AI research, computing, innovation, investment and responsible AI.

AI is moving quickly.
So is our partnership. 🇪🇺🇦🇪

We need powerful AI. But we also need AI we can trust.
That’s why the EU put the AI Act in place, the world’s first comprehensive law on artificial intelligence.

The Act takes a risk-based approach, recognising that different AI systems can pose different levels of risk.

🔴 Unacceptable risk: certain AI practices are prohibited.
🟠 High risk: strict requirements apply to systems that can pose significant risks to people’s safety or fundamental rights.
🟡 Transparency risk: people must be informed when interacting with certain AI systems, and certain AI-generated content must be identifiable.
🟢 Minimal or no risk: most AI systems fall into this category and face no new obligations under the Act.

The aim is to ensure that AI systems are safe, transparent and trustworthy, while creating a framework that allows innovation to continue.

As Europe and the UAE continue to develop their AI ecosystems, trustworthy AI will be an important part of building confidence in the technologies of tomorrow.
