Is This Quality Control Failure or Consumer Exploitation? | Mayfair Frooto Amrood
I have personally found an empty candy wrapper without candy inside a sealed Mayfair Frooto Amrood pack for the third time. This is no longer something I can simply ignore.
According to a local shopkeeper, 2–4 candies in every box may be missing in this way. If this is happening on such a scale, it raises serious questions about Asian Food Industries Limited's manufacturing controls, packaging inspection and quality assurance.
Let's look at the potential financial impact in Pakistan:
- Retail outlets covered: 200,000+
- Estimated boxes sold per outlet monthly: 2
- Total boxes sold monthly (estimated): 400,000
- Missing candies per box: 2 (conservative estimate)
- Value per candy: Rs. 2
- Potential monthly consumer loss: Rs. 16 LAKH
- Potential annual consumer loss: Rs. 1.92 CRORE
These are illustrative estimates, not verified sales figures or proven company earnings. But even at this conservative level, the potential scale of the issue deserves serious investigation.
My questions to Asian Food Industries Limited (Mayfair):
1. How can empty wrappers pass your production and quality-control inspection?
2. Are you conducting proper automated weight checks and packaging inspections?
3. Who is accountable for the missing product that consumers have paid for?
4. Will the company investigate and publicly explain this recurring problem?
If this is a repeated manufacturing defect, it is a serious failure of quality assurance. If deliberate underfilling is established, it becomes a matter of consumer deception and accountability.
Where are Pakistan's food safety authorities? Where is consumer protection? And where is when ordinary consumers are losing money on everyday products?
Consumers deserve the full quantity they pay for. Every rupee matters.
