Fire and Rescue NSW Station 205 Armidale Firefighters at Fire & Rescue Armidale are committed to serving the community 24 hours a day 365 day

As one of the world's largest urban fire and rescue services, we manage fire emergencies in NSW’s major cities and towns. We respond to rescues, hazardous materials incidents and possible terrorism activities across the State. We work with other government agencies to minimise the impact of bushfires, storms, floods, landslides, building collapses, motor vehicle accidents and other emergencies. We also run prevention and preparedness programs to prevent these emergencies and reduce their impact on the community.

Spring is a good time to get the BBQ ready for warmer weather. Clean away built-up grease and fat from grills, trays and drip pans before firing it up.

While you’re there, check gas hoses and connections for signs of damage or leaks.

Spring cleaning is a good time to check what’s hiding in the cupboard. Safely clear out old or unwanted household chemicals and keep anything you’re holding onto stored securely and in its original container.

Always dispose of unwanted chemicals safely. Contact your local council for information on upcoming Household Chemical Clean out events.

Batteries don’t belong in household bins.

Even one battery can spark a fire in a garbage truck, recycling facility or waste site.

If you're doing a spring clean, make sure any loose or unwanted batteries go to a safe battery drop-off point, not your household bin.

Find your nearest drop-off location at www.epa.nsw.gov.au/batteries

Spring cleaning? Clearing clutter is about more than tidying. Keep hallways, doors and windows clear so everyone can get out quickly in a fire.

Take a few minutes to check your escape routes while you're cleaning.

🚨 Armidale 205 FRNSW - RPAS

Certified!

A great step forward for Armidale 205, with the station receiving our Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (aka drone) after being officially certified.

The drone capability will provide our crews with another valuable tool to assist with incidents, search and rescue, fireground intelligence and supporting the New England Community when it matters most.

A fantastic achievement for the station and another example of Armidale 205 continuing to build its capability. 👏🚨

You won't have time to think it through when smoke is filling the hallway.

Walk through your home and find two ways out of every room. Pick a safe meeting place outside. Practice it with everyone you live with, kids included.

Plan it now, while it's still just a plan.
