🚧 Koolunga Road Works Update – Brinkworth 🚧

Council’s contractor, S.C.Heinrich - Earthmoving, Quarrying & Transport , is back on site at Brinkworth to complete the final section of works at the northern end of Koolunga Road.

Road reconstruction works include importing new rubble, rolling, grading and installing geo mesh to strengthen the road surface.

Weather permitting, works are expected to be completed by mid-December.

🔥Fire danger season dates declared 🔥
The CFS Chief Officer has declared the Fire Danger Season dates for 2026/27 for all fire ban districts in South Australia.
The Fire Danger Season dates for 2026/2027 for Mid North are from November 1, 2026 to 30 April 2027.

📅 The 2026-27 Fire Danger Season dates have now been announced for the Yorke Peninsula and the Mid North, with both districts starting on 1 November 2026 and concluding on 30 April, in line with last season.

Dates for the remaining Fire Ban Districts will be announced in the coming weeks, after further local consultation with the relevant Bushfire Management Committees.

With bushfire risk increasing across South Australia, we’re urging everyone to take it seriously and start preparing. Now is the time to clean up your property and create your 5 Minute Bushfire Plan.

🚧 Koolunga Road Upgrade Works Resuming 🚧

Works will have resumed on Koolunga Road, Brinkworth, with the remaining 1km section of road set to be completed.

As part of these works, the Boucaut Road exit will be closed, and traffic lights will be in place to safely manage northbound and southbound traffic. A detour via Boucaut Road will also be in operation.

The final stage of the project will include construction of road embankments, installation of road layers, and final spray sealing to complete the upgrade.

Tidal Tidy Up! Dredging and construction of the Port Wakefield Tidal Pool footbridge begins

Civil Tech is now halfway across the pool with piers, making the most of the small window each day when tides are low enough for work to take place. Once the piers are installed, they will be trimmed to the final height of the footbridge.

Council will also install a temporary cap on the weir to help prevent water entering the pool during large tides.

Maintenance dredging will be undertaken within the tidal swimming pool to remove accumulated sand and silt, ranging from approximately 150 mm to 400 mm in depth. A 35-tonne excavator will be used, and the excavated spoil will be stockpiled along the western bank to drain before being transported to Council’s Everard Transfer Station for disposal.

Dredging at the Port Wakefield boat ramp will follow once the Tidal Pool works are completed. These works are anticipated to take two to three days, and Council will provide notice of closures before they take place.
