We're proud to partner on this project to support Ballarat's long-term water security and liveability.💧
We've recently completed a new pipeline along Gillies Street, connecting to the City of Ballarat's pipeline at Ring Road Reserve. Work is now underway to double production capacity at our Ballarat North Water Reclamation Plant, increasing the supply of Class A recycled water to support water levels in Lake Wendouree and the irrigation of valued local recreational spaces.
💧🫗 20 million litres of drinking water will now be saved every year!
A new underground pipeline will soon connect Lake Wendouree and Victoria Park, helping save around 20 million litres of drinking water annually while keeping local sporting fields green and playable.
Scheduled to begin in mid-November, the Victoria Park Recycled Water Project will allow sporting fields at Victoria Park to be irrigated using water supplied from Lake Wendouree, reducing reliance on drinking water supplies.
The 833-metre pipeline will run underground from the Lake Wendouree foreshore, beneath Morrison Street and Sturt Street, before connecting to existing water infrastructure at Victoria Park. Thanks to horizontal boring, the pipeline can be installed with minimal disruption and without the need for large open trenches.
A partnership between the City of Ballarat, Central Highlands Water and the Victorian Government, the project forms part of a broader $4.5 million investment to expand recycled water infrastructure across Ballarat.
The upgraded network will support local sporting clubs, help secure Ballarat's long-term water future and contribute to the sustainable greening of the city.
🛠️ Works are expected to be completed by February 2027.
