✨THANK YOU 🙏

After the crowds had gone, and the stalls had all packed away, we noticed there was a fair bit of rubbish laying about.

Staff members started cleaning it up, and placed new bins out (so they were available for today’s park users 😉) but, within minutes, a small but mighty group jumped in and helped! They weren’t asked to, nor were they prompted, they just saw a job needed doing and jumped in to lend a hand!

A special mention needs to go to Hunter Hall, possibly the youngest of the 6 people that helped, he was the first to jump in and the last to finish!

We were so grateful for your time and effort, making a big job for 1 or 2 people, a small job for 6 or 7 people (see what I did there 😉) . 👏💚

So THANK YOU! 🤩

🏆🌟 OUR VERY OWN RISING STAR! 🌟🏆

We’ve been keeping a little secret 🤫

👏 We are SO incredibly proud to congratulate our very own Lucy Kilpatrick on winning the Rising Star Award at the 2026 Ministers’ Awards for Women in Local Government!

🤩 Lucy started her journey with Cobar Shire Council right here at the Youthie as a 16-year-old junior, and since then we’ve had the privilege of watching her grow into an incredibly valued member of our team.

🎉 From Youth Proms and playgroups to fundraising events, youth health initiatives, supporting (and adding a much valued age appropriate perspective!) to our Reclaim the Night event and finding new ways to connect with Cobar’s young people, Lucy brings creativity, initiative and a genuine passion for our community to everything she does.

To see Lucy’s contribution to Cobar Shire Council and our community recognised at a state level is pretty special. 💜💚

From a 16-year-old junior entering a workplace that had never employed juniors, she had to find her feet and way at the Youthie, to an award-winning Rising Star in Local Government... how good is that?! 🥹🌟

💜💚Congratulations Lucy! We’re so proud of you and everything you’ve achieved.

We would also like to acknowledge all the staff at the Cobar Youth and Community Centre, we have such a small team, but, it’s an amazing team. Everyone works so well together and everyone genuinely wants each other and the centre, kids, community etc, to succeed! Lucy is amazing of course, but the community, kids and fellow staff members have also supported Lucy along the way, so thank you all 🙏
