Congratulations to our very own Nadine Wright, winner of the Community Based Employee award!

Nadine was recognised for her dedication to creating opportunities for local young people, advocating for them and supporting them every step of the way. Deadly effort, Nadine! 👏

Njernda was also proud to be a finalist in the Koorie Employment: Community Based Organisations category.

Thank you to Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Inc. for hosting the awards at the Aborigines Advancement League on Thursday 22 October, and congratulations to all the winners and finalists.

The best time to prepare for thunderstorm asthma is before the storms arrive.

If you have asthma, there are a few simple things you can do to help reduce your risk:

- Use your preventer inhaler as prescribed
- Make sure your Asthma Action Plan is up-to-date
- Keep your hay fever under control

Good asthma management throughout the year can help reduce your risk of thunderstorm asthma.

Take a few minutes to get prepared now, so you're ready when the weather changes.

✂️ What a deadly Community Day!

Thank you to everyone who came down to our Youth Hub on Monday and made it such a great day.

It was so good to see so many families, Elders and young people out together.

A massive thank you to Walkabout Barber for rolling into Echuca and giving our community fresh cuts all day long. Having you here was something special!💈

The little ones had a ball with the Billabong Ranch petting zoo and face painting, and the BBQ lunch, coffee van and slushie van kept everyone fed, caffeinated and cool.

Big thanks to the services who set up stalls and yarned with community on the day:

🤝 First Nations Disability Advocacy Program | RIAC

Need support to have your voice heard? The Rights Information and Advocacy Centre (RIAC) runs a free First Nations Disability Advocacy Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability, their families and carers.

Their First Nations Advocates are independent and can help with:
✅ Speaking up for you at meetings or writing letters on your behalf
✅ Navigating the NDIS and Centrelink, including reviewing decisions
✅ Making complaints and seeing them through
✅ Connecting you with other helpful services

Support is one-on-one, respectful and confidential, and you stay in charge of your own decisions. The advocates are also happy to help with any general questions.
