Less than a week after the recent flooding event, our road crews have identified more than 350 damage sites across the Gympie region and rectified more than 270 sites.

Teams are continuing to assess damage and prioritise urgent recovery works.

As resources are redirected to recovery efforts, some planned maintenance works may be delayed or rescheduled 🚧

We ask the community to please be patient, take care on the roads and drive to the conditions while our crews work to get things back on track.

Thanks for your understanding!

David has given years of service to Goomeri, supporting local organisations, emergency services and community events, while helping keep important traditions alive.

Congratulations Carol and David, and thank you to all our nominees whose contributions to the local community continue to make the Gympie region a great place to live 🎉

Congratulations to Kristan Fischer, who set a new Australian record for completing the most skydives in a single day at the Gympie Aerodrome, setting a new record at 155 jumps 🪂

Kristan had to battle less-than-ideal conditions, with rain setting in across the Gympie region. Despite this, he worked hard and, together with his crew, was able to push through and set the new record.

It's great to see this achievement take place in the Gympie region!

Help shape the future of two local playgrounds 🛝🌳

Council is renewing Crab Creek playground in Tin Can Bay and Clive Colburn playground in Kandanga, and we’d like to hear from you.

Your feedback will help us understand which play equipment and experiences matter most to the people who use these playgrounds.

The survey asks about:
• Which age groups use the playground
• The play equipment you value most
• The equipment that matters less to you
• Other types of play you’d like Council to consider

Consultation will be open until Sunday, 15 November 2026.

FLOOD UPDATE - Gympie Region - 26 October 10:30am

Floodwaters are slowly receding across the region.

✅ The Kidd Bridge at Gympie is now OPEN to general traffic. Please continue to drive to the conditions and take extra care.

As floodwaters continue to recede it’s likely our roads and bridges have been damaged.

⚠️ Not every flash flooded road is able to be recorded on the Disaster Dashboard, so residents need to monitor the conditions and keep out of floodwaters.

The community is reminded to:
- Check local conditions before getting on the road
- Obey road closures, flood depth indicators and warning signs.
- Check the Disaster Dashboard for the latest updates and warnings.
- Allow extra time and travel carefully.

With storms and further rainfall possible for this week, we are continuing to monitor the situation closely and we ask the community to keep informed via our Disaster Dashboard - https://disaster.gympie.qld.gov.au/

Report road hazards, damage and fallen trees to Council on 1300 307 800. Our crews are busy responding to road impacts and we ask the community to be patient.

⛔️ If it’s flooded, forget it. Never drive through floodwater.
