Thank for you for the memories Mr Kent!

After 27 remarkable years at The Jannali High School, we bid farewell to Mr Kent, a truly outstanding educator who began his teaching journey in 1990. Throughout his career, Mr Kent has been a pillar of excellence, maintaining high expectations and delivering outstanding classroom practice that helped students achieve exceptional HSC results year after year.

His commitment didn’t stop with academics—Mr Kent has been a passionate supporter of school sport, coaching teams and encouraging students to strive for their best. As a mentor, he has been an invaluable guide to many young teachers, enriching our school and PDHPE faculty with his experience and kindness.

Mr Kent's departure from our school and the teaching profession marks the end of an era, and while he will be deeply missed by our school community, his legacy of dedication and excellence will continue to inspire. Thank you for everything Mr Kent —you have made a profound difference in the lives of so many students and teachers.

🎉 U16 LEAGUE TAG CHAMPIONS 🎉

TJHS is proud to announce that our U16 girls League Tag team has had another successful year in the Port Hacking Zone League Cup. Two years of an unstoppable team, guided by the wonderful leadership of Madi P and Lucia S and supported by coach Eva B.

The grand final took place on Wednesday this week, where Jannali fought hard in a close battle against Engadine HS. Engadine took the lead early, and TJHS were chasing throughout the entire match. With three minutes to go, TJHS scored and converted the try, leading to a 20-20 draw at Full time. A thrilling end to the competition saw Madi P kick a field goal to secure the victory during golden point.

What a way to end a second undefeated season.

Well done girls!

Today, 12 Year 8 students attended the Youth Environment Summit 2026 at Cronulla RSL. Joining students from across the Sutherland Shire, they had the opportunity to share their ideas and concerns with Mayor Carmelo Pesce, and contribute to the development of the Sutherland Shire Resilience Strategy.

The collaborative workshop fostered connections among young people across the Shire and empowered students to have their voices heard. Together, they worked towards creating a Youth Statement on Resilience, which will be presented to Council.

Four of our Year 10 students recently attended the St George Hospital Pharmacy Department Excursion.

They met pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who shared their career journeys and gave an inside look at daily life in hospital pharmacy departments. Our students toured hospital wards and went behind the scenes in various pharmacy departments, including inpatient, outpatient, oncology, and after-hours dispensaries. They learned about sterile compounding, clinical trials, safe medication storage and stock control. Hands-on activities included the students compounding a cream, assembling a Webster pack, and a medication name quiz. The day wrapped up with information about school-based traineeship opportunities in Pharmacy at St George Hospital starting in 2027.

A big thank you to the St George Hospital Pharmacy team for hosting and inspiring our students!

2026 Metro South HS Bowls Finals Series!

What a fantastic day at Sylvania Bowling Club!

We were incredibly proud to have four teams represent our school at this year’s Metro South HS Bowls Finals Series — the most teams we have ever had participate in lawn bowls!

Our students embraced the opportunity to learn the game of lawn bowls, develop their skills, and give it their best while having plenty of fun along the way. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, supporting one another and enjoying a new sporting experience.

A big congratulations to all our students for their enthusiasm, sportsmanship and positive attitudes throughout the day. We look forward to continuing to grow our lawn bowls program in the years to come!
