NAUIYU AGED CARE | Supporting independence at home 🏡

Our Nauiyu Aged Care staff recently assisted a client with household tasks, including cleaning and dishwashing, helping to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable home environment.

Our services are designed to promote client dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing. By assisting with everyday household tasks, we support older people to continue living safely in their own homes, remain connected to their communities and maintain control over their daily lives.

Every interaction is focused on delivering respectful, person-centred care that responds to each client's individual needs, preferences and goals.

We would like to thank Nauiyu Aged Care Team Leader Salisha and the Aged Care team for their dedication and commitment to supporting our clients. A special thank you also goes to Governance Manager Jo for her support of the Aged Care team this week.

Supporting older people to live independently, safely and with dignity in their own communities.

❄️ A welcome delivery for Nauiyu Aged Care!

A brand-new freezer has arrived at Nauiyu Aged Care, a welcome addition for the team!

And while we're sharing some good news, we'd also love to give a special shout-out to Nauiyu Aged Care Team Leader, Salisha Kerr!

A proud Nauiyu local, Salisha has been leading the Aged Care team since March 2025 and has shown incredible dedication to her community, particularly through this year's floods, evacuation and move to a temporary service location.
Through it all, she's worked hard to keep services running and ensure local Elders continue to receive the care and support they need.

When she's not looking after the community, Salisha is also a keen fisherwoman who's known to catch some impressive barra! 🎣

Salisha, thank you for everything you do! We're so lucky to have such caring and dedicated people working in our communities. 💛

New emergency facilities handed over in Nitjpurru ✈️

Victoria Daly Regional Council representatives recently flew from Darwin to Nitjpurru aboard a Hardy Aviation twin-engine aircraft for the official handover of new toilet and ablution facilities.

Council CEO Jennifer Marston, Director of Infrastructure and Assets Peter Krupka and Asset Manager Meg Wilkinson were joined by Dayne Tierney from NT Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI) and representatives from project contractor L.A Build

The flight offered some spectacular aerial views of the region, including the approach to Nitjpurru's remote airstrip. A special thank you to pilot Liam from Hardy Aviation, who took great care of the team and navigated some challenging weather along the way.

Delivered by DLI, the new facilities are located alongside the community's evacuation centre and include hot and cold running water, power and safe lighting.
With the wet season now underway, the facilities will provide essential amenities for community members using the evacuation centre during an emergency, including flooding.

Council is very grateful to DLI for its support in making this project happen, particularly Dayne for making the trip to Nitjpurru for the handover.

We'd also like to acknowledge the LA Build team, who worked through the intense heat of the dry season to complete the facilities. Delivering a project like this in such a remote location is no small feat, and their hard work, alongside the efforts of DLI and Council staff, has helped deliver something that will make a real difference to community safety.

Welcoming LGANT to Victoria Daly Regional Council 🤝

Victoria Daly Regional Council was pleased to welcome Local Government Association of NT President Cr Peter Pangquee and CEO Mary Watson, who travelled from Darwin to attend Council's Ordinary Council Meeting (OCM) briefing day.

The visit brought together Mayor Brian Pedwell, Deputy Mayor Deborah Jones, Councillor Georgina Macleod, Councillor Yvette Williams and Council CEO Jennifer Marston.

With elected members travelling from across the Victoria Daly region, the visit provided an important opportunity for face-to-face engagement, sharing local priorities and feedback, and discussing LGANT's ongoing advocacy and support for local government across the Territory.
