This long weekend the Macquarie RoboCup teams have been competing in the RoboCup National Championship. Our 4 teams, The Macqurylated Spirits, Code MPS, MPS Spinner and MPS Eddie Jnr competed in the Line Rescue event. This involved them designing, building and coding a robot that needed to make it through a course full of obstacles to save someone from a toxic spill zone. The teams have been working towards this all year giving up lunchtimes to practice and improve their robots. It was great to see the improvement they made over the year. Well done, Team Macquarie!

SCHOOLS UPDATE: Minimal supervision arrangements for ACT public schools and preschools, 9am-11am, Thursday 17 September

ACT public schools will be operating under minimal supervision from 9am to 11am on Thursday 17 September 2026.

Families may wish to keep their children at home during that time, but minimal supervision will be available for those who need to attend.

Regular teaching and learning will begin at 11am.

The arrangement is to support Australian Education Union members to attend a paid time meeting to consider the ACT Government’s September 10 pay and conditions offer for teachers, school leaders and school psychologists.

The ACT Government appreciates your understanding and support. We remain committed to working collaboratively with staff and unions to reach an outcome that supports our workforce and continues to deliver high-quality public education for ACT students.

📚✨ And that’s a wrap on Book Week! ✨📚
What better way to finish the week than with an amazing Book Week Parade! Our students looked incredible and brought their favourite books to life with some truly creative costumes.
A huge congratulations to all our students and a special shout-out to our wonderful parents and families for helping make the magic happen! 👏💛 And, of course, our staff joined in the fun too, dressing as their favourite fairy tale characters and adding a little extra magic to the parade! 🧚‍♀️👑✨What a fantastic week celebrating our love of books, reading and imagination! 📚🌟

Happy 4th birthday to our favourite staff member, Mirri! 🎉 🎂 We are so lucky to have you - you bring us so much joy 🤩 💙

All ACT public schools CLOSED (full day) on Thursday 11 June 2026

In order to enable industrial action and keep students safe, all ACT public schools, including specialist schools and preschools, will be CLOSED on Thursday 11 June 2026 (full day).

There will be no onsite supervision on the day.

The Education Directorate has decided to close schools to students during this time, in the interest of student and staff safety.

The Australian Education Union has notified the Education Directorate that its members will take part in protected industrial action for a full day on that day.

We are again expecting a large proportion of ACT public school staff will participate in the work stoppage, meaning we are unable to confidently plan for safe and appropriate supervision for all students.

If you have any questions or concerns about how this closure will impact your school, please contact your school directly.

We acknowledge that school closures have significant impacts on families and these decisions are not taken lightly. We are letting families know about this change as early as possible to help with forward planning. The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remains our highest priority.

Your school will let you know early next week if there are any changes to timetabling or start of day activities.
