🌷💐 (OCT 12) 💐🌷

As a treat for National Carers Week, we took a group of carers from Echucha and the surrounding Bendigo region on a special outing to the beautiful Tesselaar Tulip Festival.

We had a pleasant wander, taking in the colourful blooms before we hopped over to Croydon for a fantastic Italian lunch in Croydon.

National Carers Week is a time to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of unpaid carers in our communities, and we were so proud to offer them such a well-deserved break.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a memorable day! 💐

Care for a carer: Making carers visible

This National Carers Week, LINK Community & Transport is recognising the unpaid carers in our community who support family members and friends living with disability and illness.

Many carers don't even identify themselves as carers. They may simply see themselves as a partner, parent, child or friend doing what needs to be done. But whether you're helping with meals, managing appointments, providing personal care or offering reassurance, your care matters, and so do you.

LINK’s supported outings give carers a chance to take a break, share a laugh, make friends and enjoy time for
themselves. We also organise outings for carer groups.

This Carers Week, we see you and thank you. Talk to our team about support.

To find more information about being a carer, follow Carers Australia.

A big thank you to Nathan Lambert MP and Darebin Mayor Emily Dimitriadis for visiting our new Preston headquarters earlier this month!

We were so proud to show off our new digs and share a little more about the work we do to keep people connected to their communities. A special highlight was hearing our wonderful volunteers and clients speak about the difference LINK makes in their lives.

Thanks for making the time to visit us!

We were so proud to show off our new digs and felt so welcomed!

Welcome to Preston, LINK Community & Transport!

A special thanks to LINK volunteer and Reservoir local Mel Boak, who gave a great speech at the opening of their new headquarters about how LINK helps people stay independent and connected through community transport, social outings and support at home.

If you’d like to join Mel and LINK’s other fantastic volunteers, or know someone who might benefit from their services, you can find all their details, including their new Water Road address, at lct.org.au.

It was great to return to Wyndham Seniors Expo last week for the second year in row.

We heard a lot of very positive feedback on our services, and were very humbled to have our stall visited by so many existing clients and their referred friends and neighbours.

Thank you to Wyndham City council for the opportunity to connect with our community members and fellow service providers.

P.S. also a big thank you for the wonderful singing performance that kicked off the day!

This Dementia Action Week, LINK Community and Transport is proud to support the message: “It’s time to talk about dementia.”

Starting a conversation can help us better understand the experiences of people living with dementia, as well as the important role of families, friends and carers. It’s also an opportunity to build more welcoming and inclusive communities where everyone feels connected and supported.

💛 R U OK? Day 2026

Mental health matters at every age, and staying connected makes a world of difference.

For older Australians:

-15% experienced loneliness in 2024.
-62.5% of people entering residential aged care experienced symptoms of depression.
-575 Australians aged 65+ died by su***de in 2024.

These numbers remind us why checking in matters.

This R U OK? Day, take a moment to ask an older friend, family member, neighbour or community member: “Are you OK?”

Listen, connect and follow up. A simple conversation could make a difference. 💛
